Just booked GF -- AAA question

I just booked GF for me, my DH, my MIL & my DS (age 3) for 7 nights Sept 22-29 for $2505 total! :cool1:

Unfortunately, no codes associated with either my name or DH's. In fact I asked the CM if there were any discounts available, and she immediately said "Well, a pin code didn't show up with your name...what's your husband's name and I'll check his." (I'd already told her he has a different last name.) Oh well -- I was actually surprised she even knew what I was talking about!

BUT -- my MIL is a AAA member and when I told the CM, she gave me that discount ($414 off -- not huge, but better than rack). But she didn't ask for a member number or anything. Is that typical? Will she need to be sure to bring her membership card to show at check-in?

We have used AAA rates when AP rates were not available. We have been asked on occassion for the number from CRO and from the Resort Check In. Sometimes neither ask for it. :confused3

I would make sure you had the card upon arrival and it probably needs to be in your name, or they can/may charge you rack rate. Annual membership is around $55, so it would be well worth it to enroll yourself.

Good Luck!

I just booked AAA rate this week. They took my membership number and stressed I would have to have my card available at check-in.

me too! booked AAA 2 weeks ago,,first time ever they took the number down and told me had to have it when I checked in or rack rates would apply.

hmmm.. think people are saying they have AAA when they really don't

We always start with a AAA discount. Our membership has always paid for itself. However, if you do not want to join yourselves, it might be a good idea to switch the name on the ressie to your MIL's name since she is the actual AAA member. We have similar experiences--sometimes they ask to see the card or ask for the number--sometimes they do not.

If you can call CRO and tell them you have AAA and receive a discount then why bother going through a AAA TA?The other little AAA perks don`t really matter.Am I wrong? Please be gentle on me...I`m a newbie :teeth:  :Pinkbounc

We always just call CRO directly for the AAA discount for room only. I believe if you go through the AAA travel agent you would have a package. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

To get an AAA discount do you have to book through AAA or can you get a room on your own and tell them that you are a AAA memeber?

Welcome to the DIS stephenjohnsilver!

You are correct. We don't use a AAA TA when we book WDW. We just call CRO directly and ask for the discount. Then upon arrival we show our card, etc. As my previous post said..sometimes they ask and sometimes they don't. :confused3

If no other codes, AP rates, etc. are available, the AAA membership has paid for itself "tenfold" on each trip we have used it at WDW.

 Thanks for the warm welcome and answer to my question :rotfl: I`m not going till the end of Dec.`06,but there is much research to do!This board has given me alot of info. and it is much appreciated!!!Take care...DW needs the computer now :guilty: :badpc:

Go to mousesavers.com and click on Walt Disney Resorts. Mary has a discounts page for the resorts. Scroll down to AAA and she will have all the info that you need.

We are wondering if we should get a AAA membership - We have ressies at Pop already and could definitely use the 15% off rate. I was wondering what, if any, other discounts are associated with the membership at WDW - any othe perks to being a member beside the room discount? This is our first trip - May 11-18th!

Can`t you call CRO for the package and ask for the AAA discount? It would make things a little easier. :Pinkbounc

If you want to add on dining to a package of room & MYW tickets (and get the AAA discount off the room-portion), you do have to go through a AAA travel agency.

If you don't want a package, you can call CRO and tell them you have AAA. The discounts are subject to availability.

Hope this helps!

I booked 9 nights Poly GVC on Friday with a AAA discount of 10% for Oct. I asked CM if I needed to give her my membership # and she said to just be sure to have my card at check-in and "you'll probably get that AP discount and won't need to worry about your AAA card". Now that was nice to hear from the CM.

I called yesterday, and there is not a AAA discount available for the week of 4/17 at ASM. They were available for all the other value resorts, so we switched our reservation to the ***. I have read so much information about this trip that I am beginning to forget some of the info that I read at the very beginning if my research. It is ALWAYS a good thing when I am able to save money. Thanks for all the input. :teeth:

We made a reservation (for our first trip) through Disney for a 2 BR at BWV for 5 nights in early Dec - but they told us no AAA discounts were available for the package (room plus tickets). When we tried AAA they couldn't get us a room there at all. Does Disney only offer AAA if they are trying to get rid of rooms? I guess the villas are pretty busy that time of year because of the Christmas celebrations. I'm afraid we're going to end up paying rack rate, but we feel like we don't have much of a choice because we have 8 people in our party. I don't know if it is likely to get a AP discount closer to the date, either, if AAA isn't even available...
