Just booked for August!!!!

We've been waiting so long to go back to FW!
This will be our first trip back in almost 4 years! This will also be our first August trip. With the kids getting into the high school years, we have no choice.
Anyone have any great advice for August? We will be there from Aug. 22, until Sept. 1. We'll be camping in our 5th wheel, with me, DH, DS-8, DD-14 and DD-16.
We did not book a preferred site this time, didn't think we'd need the cable. We are undicided about whether or not to bring the dog, so we may have to call for a pet loop later on. We have no idea what loop to request. Last time we stayed in the 1400 loop, and loved it. This time just a full hook up..................

Well, I haven't stayed there yet..but we are looking to go in August also..have yet to narrow down dates...probably 2 and 3rd weeks. We also have requested 1400 loop...since it is a preferred loop/with cable! I have booked 3 weeks and will cut down the reservation when my husband is sure of this days. Figured better to overbook and then cut it back. Only needed to send the one nights deposit of $52.00. We biked through the campground last year while visiting the Wilderness Lodge..and have always wanted to bring our Travel trailer down. So we thought the 1400 loop looked nice...and close to the amenities like the pool and trading post. We too have a soon to be 13 year old ( boy)and a 17 year old( daughter). I'm glad to hear there will be other folks with teens down there. August wasn't our first pick for weather either..but as you say with the kids in school...it's tough to take them out for too long.

Auntie, You'll love FW, and so will the kids! Even the teens have plenty to do. We have been several times, but not in a few years as we were living out west in Ca. for a while. We got back to the north east last summer, and have been trying to pin down a time to go every since.
My son will celebrate his 9th birthdays in Disney! He doesn't know we're going, we're trying to keep it a secret so he will be surprised............I hope we can keep it quiet, but we're all so excited!

We will be at the Fort just before you 8th-17th. I have the same ???s as you. We did request the 1400 loop this time (it looked really great). I am waiting with baited breath for all the responses you receive. I asked a few questions b4 and I got a lot of "HOT" & "CROWDS" -- but I think all things can be handled. That's why they have fast pass, longer hours, and we are lucky we can come "home" when we need a rest.

I asked on the tips board about what rides to use fast pass and what ones not to "waste" a fast pass on - because the line already moves fast or what not. This will be big for us, we will have 2 teen boys (14 & 15). As of now I have not had any responses. If I get any I will pass them on.

Yes it is hot, and rainy but after the 12th or 15th the crowds are low. I have been there four times in Aug and the later you go the better the crowds are until you hit the Labor Day weekend. It is my favorite time to go. The later in the month you go the parks do close earlier but Epcot is always open to 9 so we usually ended our day there. You can also make late dinner reservations and then take your time back to the campgrounds.


I have stayed in the 1500 loop when we have camped and it is great.. Close to everything like the 1400 loop. Last year we went with our 18 and 13 year old sons and they love FW. They loved the pool and the video game center.
