Man, this is so far away - November 2021. But, we book this week of November every year and always have 11 months to wait it out! This will be our first trip to Universal and not Disney, so I"m excited to start some more legit research and planning! Advice on how to watch for deals? I am leaning towards Hard Rock and three days in the parks. If Volcano Bay is open next November, that will be a must do (hopefully it's warm enough). Excited for a new adventure!

I listen to many Disney podcasts about trip planning and trip reports. Are there any Universal specific ones?

Exciting! No idea about podcasts. We took the family for Thanksgiving a couple of years ago. It was warm enough to do VB a couple of times in the afternoon. They were selling a special buy 1 day get 1 free for VB, not sure if it was just for annual pass holders. I would book the hotel you want now, then keep checking back for discounts. There are a couple of stickied threads on the resorts forum just under this one where people list rates they get. When AP resort rates come out (often not until July or August) it may be worth your while to see if it would save you to buy one.

We will be at Universal from 11/17-11/19 before a Disney trip around Thanksgiving. We have only visited for the day never stayed onsite so it will be a new experience for us. We are booked at Portofino. Unfortunately we fly SW so can’t book flights until 5 or 6 months before.

We are also planning a trip to Disney/universal for the week of thanksgiving. I am waiting for my 11 month window to open at Old Key West this weekend. We are planning a split stay this time and it will be our first time at Universal. I have no idea on how to navigate those parks. We plan to book onsite for 2 nights to get the unlimited express passes. I believe there is still some uncertainty if we need park to park ticket or just single park tickets for the 2 days. I think the price difference is too much for just a train ride. We are typically one park a day family and don’t like to hop around parks. I am also keeping an eye on AA flights as they get released. I noticed that pricing for AA from DFW has been reasonable for the days that are open in November. I hope that trend continues for late Nov. I will be hanging around this forum for tips and best practices on how to navigate the universal theme parks.

We will be doing a Disney/Universal vacation in November 2021. We will be at Art of Animation for 6 nights and the Hard Rock for 3 nights. I am hoping that both parks will have some Christmas activities this year.
