For DS 4 (ASD and SID) and DS 18mnths (our cousins 2 year old may be joining them also). This is the first time we will be using any type of service and though we are definitely going to do it we just want to get some feedback from ohers who have used Fairy Godmothers. We have read many good things about all the different services and we just went with FG. We are not oppossed to using another service if anyone has had a phenonmenal experience.

FYI- Our 4 year old is high functioning; verbal, potty trained etc. He tends to have difficulty transitioning, sesory overload, meltdowns etc. He leans more towards Aspbergers end of the spectrum.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Just make sure they are aware, in advance, of DSs problems. This way they can select someone who may have special competance for those problems.

I know that Disney hotels recommend Kids Nite Out and they specifically state on their website that they deal with kids with special needs. I am just wondering if I should switch to them.

DH and I never get a night out so its really important that we get someone we feel comfortable with.

We've used FG several times and were pleased. One 2yo DGD was very hesitant to have her parents leave but the FG took time and played with her and produced playdoh! and won her over. She now wants to know if HER FG is coming. I have two suggestions. First, I would definitely tell them about your son's needs so they can assign an appropriate sitter. Second, if your cousin's 2yo is going to be there I would consider 2 sitters. If your son does need extra attention havng two other children who can't do for themselves would be a bit much. We used two sitters when the children were almost 3yo, 8mo and 14mo.
We have not used KNO.

We decided to stick with Fairy Godmothers. I thought about getting 2 sitters but the 2 year old may be a last minute addition and I am hoping the 18mnth old will be put to bed shortly after we leave. We are just going to do it and hope for the best. We are either going to eat in the hotel or Epcot so we'll be really close to our hotel (the Dolphin) if we need to get back quickly.

If the 2 yr old is a last minute addition are you planning on surprising the sitter or will you call 24 hours ahead. If you are planning on suprising the sitter I would also be prepared for them to say that isn't possible to have 2 toddlers and a special needs child ( sounds like a handful to me) and they can't watch all three. If you are the least bit nervous I would have the other couple arrange their own sitter so you can have a relaxing evening. That is the idea right? not to save money.

It's been a few years but we used FG for our DD when she was 14 mo old. We had FG daily for 5 days, they were great and the nanny was wonderful with our DD. Services were very professional, expectations were well communicated and after the first morning we went off for the day worry free. I don't know what their multiple child policy is but I would check prior to adding the 3rd child.
