I have alsways wanted to stay in a deluxe resort but it just has never been in our budget...we have stayed at ASsports, CSR, and POP....and after alot of looking at pictures and reading I decided to book CR!!! I got a great deal when I called Disney today- the CM offered a great price IMO for a package deal with MK tower view, Dining plan, 7 day park hopper passes, for 3400.00!!! I was looking up this resort online and got a different qoute of 3900.00 with NO dining so I hope I got a good deal!!

So Any info you wanna share about the resort is welcome here!

1st Let me say congragulations on getting a reservation at the best Resort in WDW, with the best possible view. Incase you have not seen what the Magic Kingdom view looks like, here is a picture of it I took from room #4840 which is on the 12th floor.

Also here is a link to the official Contemporary FAQ thread with everything you need to know about the Contemporary and with a lot of other pictures that you can look at. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1710920

Oh Thank you!
We are very excited! I told our 8 year old thathe will be able to watch fireworks from our balcony and he is VERY excited! :goodvibes

5 in total. The quote I was told was just for me and DH. I wanted to get a quote including the dining plan but was disconnected. My oldest has to be the worst eater ever so it wouldnt be worth it for him and my youngest will be 2 when we go.

I'm thinking I am going to keep calling until I get a CM to give me something as great as you! I just found a price I got online last month, same view as you, deluxe dining plan, 7 day park hopper...$4300 I need your luck! :worship:

LOL- I wasnt sure if that was a great deal or not, as I have never stayed at a deluxe but I guess so.:goodvibes
I would keep calling till you get the answer you want-- that is what the DIS has taught me (one of the many things) ;)

We've stayed at the Contemporary many, many times. Have tried several of the other resorts, but keep coming back to the Contemporary! My younger DS loves the water parade--he likes to go out to the pool area to wait for it and watch it. Shortly after the water parade ends, the fireworks begin! Watching the fireworks from the pool is always great because when it's over, you realize that your not battling those crowds in the park! Just a very relaxing way to end the day. Chef Mickey's is not to be missed and be sure to ask the monorail attendants about riding up front with the driver (really cool). Hope you have a magical trip! We'll be there in June (can't wait). Party of 7 (including my 88 year old mother-in-law). She loves the Contemporary as much as any of us!

Hey girl! Long time no talk!

The Contemporary is AWESOME! When we used to stay there every trip, we were never disappointed! The pool is nice and they have a slide so the boys will love it! There is a big metal Mickey ears not too far from there, so you will have to have the boys hop in the ears for a pic!

Whenever going to the MK, there are three choices! 1)monorail- beautiful view of the other monorail resorts, the MK, and the Seven Seas Lagoon. 2)boat-another beautiful view of the other monorail resorts, the MK, and the Seven Seas Lagoon -allow enough time for this one! 3)walkway- we mainly used this! It's like a 7-10 minute walk depending how your pace. And don't worry- it's lit up at night!

Of course, we always have to eat at Chef Mickey's! Another favorite of ours is the Concourse Steakhouse, but it's closing soon so you'll either have to check that out or the new Asian restaurant downstairs.

Are you going this year????

I've been good. Just transferred to a new college this semester so I'm getting used to that! My boyfriend and I just got an apartment last week! We move in June 1st!

I hope I'm going this year! My boyfriend and I may be going over our x-mas break since we can't go during the summer like we usually do because we both will be starting our internships!

any other suggestion for things to see/do at the contemporary??

I would agree with other posters that it is a magical stay for several reasons. To be able to WALK to the MK is amazing you feel so close to the magic. Having a MK view is the absolute best. We leave our blinds open long enough at night to fall asleep looking at the castle and watching it 'change colors'. Watching fireworks from your balcony feels so close like you are still in the MK. Watching the monorail run through your resort is also unbelievable magical. My kids love watching the action at Chef Mickeys while mom and dad are still getting ready (don't remember the ages of your boys but you might want one of you out there to watch over them while they are watching). Also you mentioned that you had not stayed at a deluxe resort before. Riding the monorail that stops at CR, Poly and GF makes you feel like royalty.

You are going to have such a wonderful time. You got a fantastic deal (I'm a little jealous that we aren't going then and getting such a great price!). I would say to keep checking out this post, it generates even more excitement for your trip and check out any pictures you can find for CR, it will also be great for your planning. Don't forget to let us know how you liked it after you get back in the fall!:wizard:

We did not stay at Contemporary. I know Cal. Gril was my favorite rest. It had the best filet mignon I have ever had. My husband had the roast pork tendorloinand he said it was good also. The service was superior and we could see the fireworks from the rest. It looked like it would be nice to be able to catch the monorail from there to MK and Epcot. My daughter did Chef Mickey and she enjoyed it also.

We stayed there a year ago....in the Tower Building, with a view of the Magic Kingdom. We loved it. It's a beautiful view during the day and at night. Watching the fireworks is GREAT! We did not have the dining plan, but did have a problem getting in at the restaurants there...tried to make a priority seating reservation, but they were full the entire time we were there (and that was in January, so not the busiest time of year). Probably a good idea to make a reservation well in advance of your arrival. We ended up eating mainly at the 24-hour counter service there, or at MK. Having access to the monorail was convenient for both Magic Kingdom and Epcot.....or if you want to visit the GF or Polynesian. It's only a 10-minutes walk from MK to the Contemporary. There is also boat service to MK. Pool area looked nice, although we didn't use it. We also enjoyed the flat screen TV in the room. It didn't have as much of the Disney 'theme' as some of their hotels, but that didn't bother us. Was a nice place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We would definately stay there again.

There is also boat service to MK.
The Contemporary does not have a direct boat which goes to the Magic Kingdom. You must be thinking of the boat service they have which goes to the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
