Just booked Castle for breakfast..$102!

We went in July and it was nice. It cost us around $100 with a family of 5...(Me, and DH, DS10, DS8 and DD4.) I am glad we did this last year, because with the price change (we will have 4 adults next time, with my youngest boy going to be 10 when we go) we could not afford almost $200 for a breakfast. Well, we COULD afford, but will choose not to.

I wouldn't totally forego a character breakfast, especially since you have little ones and it's their first time. This is the most overpriced character meal, and you can definitely find more reasonable ones. Check out the dining section of this excellent site:

I agree. We went last May and did the Princess lunch at Epcot. I thought the food was horrible, although I'll admit I'm a picky eater. But the excitement on my daughter's face (she was three at the time) was worth every penny we spent. She's talked about it ever since. Even the boys, who are so not into princesses, warmed up to them once all the pretty girls came to our table and chatted with them.

We are going to try to do a different character meal geared towards the boys this year, but I was secretly hoping to convince DH to do the castle, too. At the new price, though, I don't see that happening.

I'm so glad I was able to enjoy the Princess breakfast one last time this past November AND dinner for my birthday (for the first time) because with the new prices, we'll NEVER eat there again. It's SO not worth the major price increase and having to pre-pay.

I can certainly understand those whose never been wanting to try it once but after you've tried it once, I can't imagine your wanting to pay that price again. I certainly wouldn't. I don't care that it includes the pictures, tip and tax, it's still totally outragous prices and two TS? Give me a break!

I'll go to Princess Storybook now instead for our princess fix. It's a much better price to pay to meet some princesses....at least for now anyway. ;)

Thanks to Phyllis and the previous poster for me. My dd is deathly afraid of "characters", we went to Chuck E Cheese and she screamed for 2hrs straight! Yet another reason I won't spend the money on a meal...I'm not going to pay a lot of money if she's going to cry the entire time...esp if they'll be satisfied with something quick. ;)

If you have a family of 4 and pay the price, do you get 4 separate picture packages? Why would you need 4 copies of the same group picture for 1 family?

It would be nice if they charged the regular price per person, and then maybe 1 additional charge for the table for 1 picture package.

I'm glad I've been to the castle twice in the last two years, because we won't be going back! Let's hope that the easier reservations means that there is a drop in demand, and that it will force Disney to go back to the old way, with an "optional" picture like Chef Mickey's!

we were just there a week ago, once for lunch and once for dinner and let me just say it is SOOO NOT worth the price :( :( .. if I didnt alreasy pre pay and book I would have cancelled. The pic was ok, characters were not that interactive and the wand , well lets just say I think the dollar store had sale..

I've been watching these CRT threads closely. We have CRT for breakfast in June for our daughters 4th birthday. We have never been and I haven't told the kids that we have it booked just in case I cancel. Luckily they won't know what they are missing. I have time so I'm going to wait a little longer and see if things improve as far as reviews go for CRT, if not I will cancel soon. Thanks everyone for honest opinions on the experience. It really does help the rest of us.

LUVCHIPNDALE...do you have a photo of the wand or anything of the event to share? Thanks

I was so excited last fall when it was announced that meals could be booked 180 days in advance, I wasn't even sure we were going to take a trip the end of March for my dd's 6th birthday, but I jumped at the chance to get breakfast at the castle for her birthday. I was shocked at the price, but paid it anyway. A couple of days later, I thought better of it, realized that's a ridiculous amount of money for what's always just been a mediocre breakfast anyway, and even with the picture, it just wasn't worth it to me to pay all that money, so I canceled. I'm disappointed Disney made this so ridiculously priced, and not just for breakfast, but for lunch and dinner as well. CRT was one of my favorite places for dinner just ordering off the menu with no characters. I'm glad dh and I had one last nice dinner there last September, because with those prices and dinner now being a character meal, we'll not be back.

Disney upped the price because they knew they could, as wildly popular as the princess breakfast was, but time will tell if the restaurant will stay as popular as it used to be before this new plan went into effect. I'm hoping enough people will decide the price Disney charges for a meal in the castle is no longer worth it and Disney will reconsider and make some changes.

My hubby woudl kill me if I ever paid that much for eggs!

On defense of character breakfasts--we are light breakfast eaters regularly--so we tend to hit cb's as late as possible and then it is a brunch. Eliminates two meals.

But $102 for 2 adults and 1 child---ummm....pass!

Oh--and I want it to go back to the days of King Stefan's banquet hall--the food was yummy--and I think they did allright business wise.

Naturally anyone who is approaching this breakfast as paying almost $200 (for us, family of 5) for eggs is not going to do it. We are headed to Disney in a couple of weeks and are headed to the castle for breakfast. My kids have eaten there twice already (ages 7,6 and 3). All three (including the 3 year old boy) LOVE this experience and still talk about eating at "Cinderella's house" two years later.

You are paying for an EXPERIENCE, not the gourmet food. Now, I will admit, I would love it if they had great, wonderful food that you can only get there, but I would pay $200 for cold oatmeal if my kids got this big of a kick out of it! We are fortunate to be able to do this and not "give up" other things at Disney so maybe have a different perspective, but we are looking forward to our breakfast in the castle, even for $200!

We just went to CRT for breakfast on Monday. I was somewhat disappointed in the changes as I was expecting more for the price and it is not something you can use DDE for. The wand DD got was extremely cheap. The wishing star was a little Halloween type flashing reflector. Princesses in attendance were Cinderella (in the lobby), Snow White, Mary Poppins, Aurora and the Fairy Godmother. I didn't "get" the show they did and it was over quickly. The photo package was in a nice cover.

In comparison, we also did the Norway Princess breakfast on Saturday. Same number of princesses, opportunity to pose with Belle in the lobby for a photo package ($31) and got to use DDE. My total for that was $91 including the pic for 2 adults and 1 child and really just as good. The wand and reflector were certainly not worth $11!
