It took me several attempts to book a 2 bedroom, at Aulani..Need advice on different excursion that we should look into. I know we want to go and see the Pearl Harbor Museum, and some of the Pineapple plantations. Other then that, which ones would should we do. Thanks in advance...

Congrats!

So .. how many people? Ages? Interests? What season? (etc)

For me, even living in San Diego, a visit to Hawaii is all about nature, mostly the ocean. Take a daily walk along the water. Swim every day. Participate in the morning Yoga sessions offered on the beach. Get your toes in the sand. Examine the flora ... feel some lava (carefully, in the case of Aa). Breathe!

Ages 11, 13,15. We are heading out in June. Adventurous (not skydiving) with a little bit of relaxation!! We are from Florida so just looking for something that we wouldn’t do or see in Florida.

The Dole plantation is very touristy, and we enjoyed the tram ride and bought some tasty gifts. I think we will walk the gardens the next time. We were there in February and went to the north shore afterwards. I do not know if the food trucks are there in June. You have to be patient because it takes awhile to get food there, but 3 out of 5 adults were happy eating at the trucks.

Study the national parks web site to determine the sort of experience you want at Pearl Harbor. Traffic is bad, go as early as you can would be my advice.

I’ve been to Oahu 4-5 times, Aulani twice, and we hope to go with others again in September,( hurry February so we can book). 2 of the group will be first timers, so, I will be interested in seeing what other suggestions you get. We did lots of Waikiki things 25 years ago, I am sure things have changed.

The yoga sessions are on boards!

We always rent a car, so we usually do a day trip up to the north shore and just beach hop and watch surfers. Also grab a bite at Giovanni's Shrimp Truck!

Our last trip we also did a horseback tour at Kualoa Ranch. They have a variety of activities, including a tour that takes you to some movie/TV filming spots.

If you have an interest in history or Hawaiian culture, don't miss the Bishop Museum. It's kid-friendly and not stuffy. As with any venture dealing with traffic from Aulani into Honolulu, I recommend coming in after morning rush hour, and either leaving before afternoon rush hour or staying for supper and leaving after evening rush hour.

How about some really big waves? Take the drive up to North Shore (a rather long journey starting from Aulani) ... watch the huge waves, nibble on delicacies from the Shrimp Trucks along that route and meander back slowly.

Thank you to all that responded. We are so fortunate to be going, and look forward to our trip....
