Just booked August trip!!!

Woohoo, we just booked a trip in August!! I started a new job at a private autism school, and we don't get the summers off like normal schools, so we didn't think we would be able to go this year at all. BUT, we do get the last week of August off, so we are booked for a BW view studio August 22-29!!! We have never stayed BW view, so we are really looking forward to that.

I must confess, however, that I secretly (or not so secretly really), hope that we have to cancel/change this trip....I will wait for everyone to peel themselves off the floor now You see, I am applying for regular, public school, Special Ed jobs starting Fall 2010, so I really really would rather have a teaching job than the vacation. (August 24 would be my first day as a new teacher.) My job is great and all, but we work longer hours than teachers, and literally make half the salary!! So, I figure that come August, I will either have a great new job, or a great vacation....win, win I suppose!!

Anyway, just had to share my excitement. Oh, and if you wouldn't mind crossing some fingers, toes, or whatever for me and my job, that would be awesome!!

Just read your post. I wanted to give you a word of encouragement. It seems like special ed is an area of need, so I would think you've got a real good chance of getting in the public schools. Just keep calling to ask questions--get your file moved to the top! Even if it's to say, "Oh, I just want to make sure everything in my application is up to date..."

Good luck! If you get it, maybe we'll see you earlier in the summer with all of us other teachers!!
