We are renting points with DVC and added the DP. We had alot of trouble trying to make ressies:confused3 SO now I am wondering if the DP is going to be worth the extra hassle! Suggestions would be great!

The DP will cost us about $425 and now we have paid $265.92 that we will have to get credited back to our cc if we use the DP.

Day 1 -
We wanted WCC or GFC for around 4 but could only get 3:15 or 5:00 so we decided we'll just eat CS instead.

Day 2 -
Illuminations Dinner & Recepetion at 7:30...it takes 2 ts's but since it is a prepaid meal we had to pay $169.96 today and if we want to use the DP we have to ask server to credit back our card then.

Day 3-
Supper at 4:20 at SCI-FI

Day 4 -
Mickey's Magical Breakfast...it takes 1 ts's but since it is a prepaid event we had to pay $95.96 today and they will credit our card if we use the DP.

Day 5 -
lunch at WCC before leaving.

Guess I need to figure out how much I think I'll spend if we pay OP.

Thanks for the help!

Its worth the hassle if you want to eat full service often, on or off the DDP. Because you need ADR's either way if you have specific times and places you want to eat.

And yes, if you think that you can eat some nice sitdowns, but maybe not that many or not ordering that much food, then refigure using the menus on allearsnet.com and then add up what you will spend if paying OOP. Add the tip and tax and be honest, if you think you want dessert, add it so that your total really reflects what you will spend, not what you think you will now, months before the fact!

I see your dilemma, we are staying on points (our own in this case) and had the DDP added to our reservation. I made all my ADR's at 180 days out. Now six weeks later, I have cancelled many of those ADR's. We have friends coming to WDW the same time we are going and I want to be able to have some meals with them, even if they are cs. And also, my kids are 10 and 12 and at this point, with the 10 year old in particular, it just doesn't make sense. My dining budget on the DDP, was around $1600. When I refigured, kept a few ts' (O'Hana dinner, Turf Club dinner for dh and ds only, Sci Fi lunch, Prime Time dinner and 1900 Park Fare dinner for just me and dd) my meal budget came in at $900. We will share our cs meals since the portions are huge, share three meals at Prime Time and Sci Fi and the others are buffets. New budget: $950 including tax and tip. So I just saved myself over $600. And that budget included $12 a day for snacks. I am sort of bummed and yet also happy to save the money and get some flexibility to spend time with our friends.

Just thought I'd share my recent experience to let you know that sometimes the DDP isn't the best choice. And lots of times it is, it just varies with everyone's situation!

Good luck!

I don't think having you credit card credited back will be that much of a hassle, although I don't know how soon you'll be able to access that credit amount again.

Just number crunch, and do it now before you second-guess yourself to death. We've done the DDP on every trip we've made since its inception, but I can think of several scenarios that it wouldn't work as well. The Plan exists to serve you, not for YOU to serve IT.

Oh, yeah, and to make Disney a lot of money. Which isn't a bad thing ... capitalism ROCKS, and I'm a stockholder

Yeah...I think we might keep it but still not sure I just hate the fact that I have to pay for the DP and also have to pay for some meals in advance and then get those meals credit back to my card when I use my TS's on those meals. Sounds rather confusing to me!

I hope it all works out for you! Have a great trip! I have to sit down and figure out how much it would cost us of the DP. We like to share our meals at DW too we find the portions bigger then we would normally eat.
