Look up either "Travel Insured" or "Travelguard" and see what part of vacation rentals they cover. If you are flying...not a bad idea to check into anyway.

Check Travel insured first since they do not use AIG.

Go to insuremytrip.com and you can put in your info and they will bring up different insurance companies like TravelGuard and some others with a quote on how much and comparison charts.
You should do this NOW since some companies have a 48 hr or 72 hr. window from the first payment for the rental.

Yes, definitely get the insurance! I am a prime example of why you should get it. We were supposed to be leaving for a 9-day rental in Windsor Hills today. Two days ago, my son was in a very bad accident, and has numerous injuries. Thankfully, he will recover with medical care and time. At the time of booking the rental, trip insurance never crossed my mind, and we lost all our money on the rental. Now in addition to being upset about my son, I am sick over losing the money. Please do yourself a favor, and buy the insurance.

We always recommend trip insurance. If something happened and you had to cancel your trip, can you afford to loose any non-refundable monies?

We use insuremytrip.com for our trip insurance. If you have any pre-existing conditions, look at getting trip insurance asap (most have a waiver if you buy close to putting your deposit down - often 14 days, but varies from insurer to insurer)

Decide what you need insurance for - e.g if you have medical insurance already, you probably don't need a policy that covers medical.
