I know the points are the same as "preferred view". Is there a general consensus that Boardwalk view is better, just harder to get? Or are the views "equal" and all up to personal preference? If the latter, can you tell me more about the pros and cons of other views? I booked the BW view since I hear its a bit harder at 7 months, so I figure it will be easier to change to a Water or Garden view if I find that more desirable.

Thanks!

Just my opinion. There is nothing better than a Boardwalk view.

Another fan of BW view here. Love to watch Epcot and MK fireworks from the balcony as well as the BW performers at night. Love to watch the boats come and go. Love to see Spaceship earth lit up. Love to drink coffee in the morning (and a treat from BW bakery) while the dedicated joggers circle the lake. And of course a glass of wine on the balcony in the evening is a must. Enjoy!

LOVE the Boardwalk view! Just looking out over the lake from the balcony makes a vacation all by itself.

mixed loved the view - BC/YC really look great.

with the BW right below at times felt was on 'display' - now most people don't look up - but some definitely did.:lovestruc

will go with standard from now on.

Here is Granny's map showing the different views at BWV. The Boardwalk View rooms are marked in blue. As you can see, they overlook the boardwalk and the lake.

I'm not WOWed by the Boardwalk View, but all the views there are consistantly good. The preferred garden views have some great views, and some not so great views. Given the choice, I take a Boardwalk View every time over preferred (we usually stay standard and save on points). And now that the Mickey Hand is no longer over SE, the view is MUCH better.

However, there are some downsides.

You are on the Boardwalk - that means a lot of traffic - if you get an open balcony, you may feel like its less private.

Some people find the rooms noisy. I find the noise noticeable, but not disturbing. Notably the games, the boats, and the drunks.

Speaking of drunks, a very small number of people have occationally commented that people wandering around during bar close time bothered them with their behavior. Didn't notice it myself, being a fairly sound sleeper by the time bars let out.

we had the BW and the kids loved it when they saw an entertainer setting up....they would be heading out the door with my wife or myself in tow. One nite it was loud with some late nite espner's heading home but I would go for BW view.

So a Boardwalk view is on a request basis or can it be confirmed at time of booking?

Its a booking category - and they are only about 20% of the resort with standard view being another about 20% and the remaining 60% of the resort being preferred view - which is the worst misnomer in DVC - no one prefers the preferred view - people want standard view to save points, or the boardwalk view that gives them a guarenteed good view for the same number of points. That means that once the resort is half full or so, there tends to only be preferred view left. If you are fortunate enough to be able to book Boardwalk or Standard, do so.

Thanks for the info:thumbsup2

If you have BW View I would keep it. I love this view. I just love watching the BW.

I love the Boardwalk view. Call MS and have it noted that you would like to request an upper floor, and any potential noise issues should be abated. We stayed on the 5th floor and adored it!

I love the boardwalk view. One time I could see Spaceship Earth while laying in bed.

The only con is one time we were on the 2nd floor above Big River, it was June and it was very noisy late. People out on the Boardwalk talking until well past midnight. I've never had a problem other times on higher floors (not summer). I always request top floor, although I've only actually received it once. Most of the times I've been on 3 or 4. There are 3 or 4rooms on the actual boardwalk, I would hate that.

that sums it up beautifully....we've never stayed in any WDW room (& we've stayed in many) that can even come close to BW view.

btw, we don't mind ppl looking up at us. i remember years ago doing the same thing, a smidge envious of the people that were so incredibly lucky to be staying there:cloud9:

Granny--your photo showing the colored-coded views is very helpful. It's amazing what information can be learned here.

Thanks for the nice words. And LisaS...no need to "give credits" when showing the map/photo. Anyone is free to grab it and use it as they see fit.

As for the BW View, I agree with all posters that it is the way to go if a view is important. Personally, we enjoyed the Pool & Garden view by the quiet pool more. It is quieter, a great view of the Tower of Terror, you could hear the Fantasmic music faintly in the distance and it shortened the walk to Hollywood Studios.

A couple of weeks ago we were at WDW and about 11:00 at night, the Atlantic Dance Hall had a free "dance night" and their doors were literally open to the public. The music was so loud, and I thought about all the people in BW View rooms that might be trying to sleep. I am not overly sensitive to noise at WDW, but I could actually still hear the bass pounding and music while standing at Beaches & Cream at BC!

I fell in love with the Boardwalk view and would spend my early morning time on the balcony watching the day dawn and reading, it was so calm and beautiful. However, at 7AM the circus music would burst my bubble:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: and start blaring. Fortunately you couldn't hear anything with the slider closed and it was time to wake the troupes up anyway
