Just booked 8 nights @ OKW!!

This is straight from dvcmember.com about HH catagory " buildings 11-14 and 23-26 ( In order to accommodate special-needs reservations, buildings 62-64 are not included in the Hospitality House catagory.)"

Thanks dcamdad ! good to know buildings in HH cat haven't changed. Wondering though why this 'confusion' with MS reps re 26?

..... are 23-26 still undergoing refurb ? I'm thinking maybe this may have something to do with info iluveeyore & hockeyprincess were told re 26 not being in HH cat and why they'd probably get 27 - 29 instead.

I can see on the map the HH booking category. Just so confused why 2 different CM's told me the same thing. Then the 3rd actually said what everyone else here is saying. Oh well, guess we'll find out when we arrive.

Let's say 26 is not available for us when we check in. What would be your suggestions for good rooms? Not too far away from HH/Peninsular Rd bus stop... good views also important. I read that bldg 33 was good and also 45? Any comments/suggestions for us on that? Trying to come up with a plan B just in case..........thanks!

Buildings 45 and 46 are our very most favorites in all of OKW! That being said, you need to know that 33 and 45 are NOT near Peninsular Road bus stop OR HH. The are a fairly short walk though. I wouldn't walk to Peninsular Road to get ON the bus though....I'd still go to South point, since it will be the next bus stop. Building 15 is also nice with good views and it's nice and secluded with an equal distance from both Miller's Road and Hospitaltiy House. We also often get off the bus at Penninsular at night when returning to 15 too. I'm not real sure why you want to be at Penninsular Road. If it's for ease of getting to HH, then you should have booked HH catagory. If it's to be at that bus stop for ease of coming back into the resort at night, then expect to get building 27, 28 or 29 (our least favorite buildings in all of OKW) unless you are specifically booked in HH catagory.

As I previously posted, I called back and booked HH so we could hope to get Building 26 in August - if not, our second choice is building 24 (also HH), because we had that last year in a one bedroom on the first floor - nice water view, and had ducks on our patio every day for some bread.
If I can't get anything in those two buildings, we'll try for something in 11-14.
Remember, if you check in, get a room, and don't like the room view or location once you get in it, don't be worried about asking them to change it. We did this last year - didn't like our room in building 22, went right back up to the front desk and asked what else they had. That's how we got our great room in #24. If I'm spending two weeks there, I want to be satisfied with my location, so I will move until I am happy.:goodvibes

Just remember that they COULD charge you the fee for changing. If they didn't last time, you might have gotten lucky.

DVC can charge a fee for requested room change, $95 I think. They will not charge if there are issues with the room but just to get a better view is not a resonable issue to move.

Has anyone ever had to pay this??? We changed our room last summer because we didn't like the view of the bus turnaround/parking lot from our one bedroom at OKW, and were just told to come to the front and get a new room assignment. And we were just at SSR last month and had a pre-assigned room at the Springs with a garden view, had it changed to a water view with no problem/charge.

What other posters have said about room change fee is true; it is on page 26 (ironic don't you think? - since building 26 is being discussed :rotfl: )

in 2008-2009 Planner. It wouldn't be an issue if you request change at check-in but once you are checked-in then it can be charged if you request a different villa because of view or something similar ( charge is based on the villa size & is not noted, so I think $95 change fee dcamdad mentions is the change fee when you've traded out of DVC to RCI, Worldpassport Collection, etc ). Now, I can't say that I've ever actually heard of someone being charged but I would imagine that it has in fact happened to some.

( still would like to know what the confusion is with MS CMs and building 26 - iirc 23 - 26 were closed recently for refurb and maybe still are(?), so perhaps they are thinking on that when they said it's not HH )

Best wishes & pixie dust that all goes well pixiedust:

The fee is for re-cleaning the room. So it should be about what it costs to re-clean the room IF you messed the room up such as stayed the night in the room and asked to be moved the next day or moved in, used the bathroom, towels, etc and asked to be moved.

What fee?????

We were told we'd have to pay a room change fee when we asked to change our room. It was HA, no tub, and we called a few minutes after we got toour room. The response? "A tub is not guaranteed-you'll have to pay [I think it was $25] to move" And yes, they insisted it was for re-cleaning the room, even though we'd only been there a few minutes. And that was our first DVC stay!

Were you told it was HA prior to checking in? If not... I would think you would have had every right to have requested a change.

No, we weren't told it was HA. Then we were told "front desk CMs don't know which rooms are HA". Since it was our first DVC stay, we didn't say much. But I must admit, we did wonder a litle about this DVC purchase we'd made. Fortunately, that type of thing never happened again.
And when we did get a HA studio at OKW once without being told, they appologized profusely when we called and moved us right away without the slightest mention of a fee. Our exoeriences with CMs at OKW have been super.
