We requested near the Peninsular Rd Bus Stop room, and the CM told me that would be building 26 for a 1bedroom. Is this a good building to be in? How about bus noise? And I saw a thread about the design flaw in buildings 29 and lower, something about the bathroom door & the living room? Is this really a big deal? We've always stayed in a studio so I've never seen a 1BR inside....

We stayed in Turtle Pond area last time and loved it, but the kids were asking to be "closer" to HH (not particularly that booking category, but anyway...) so to be closer to the main pool. (We walked many times from Turtle Pond to the main pool rather than waiting on the busses.) I'm thinking bldg 26 is the HH booking area?? (Not that HH booking is not a good area to be in...;))

Also are there 1BR lockoffs or just 2BR lockoffs?

Thanks so much! Can't wait to celebrate 2 birthdays in one trip!!

I thought Bldg 26 WAS HH booking area. All the buildings 30 and lower do not have the door from the laundry room into the bathroom. If you have non-related guests, they will have to come through the master bedroom to get to the bathroom. Not a design flaw, just a change in the later buildings.

All the one bedrooms at OKW connect to a studio to make a two bedroom lockoff. But all the two bedrooms are not lockoffs. Some are dedicated.

I can answer your question about the bathroom door. In buildings lower than 30 (I don't know about the exact building 30), the only entrance to the bathroom is through the bedroom. For DH and myself, that's not a problem. However, one year we took DMIL and stayed in building 15. Now THAT trip got a little difficult with the bathroom entrance. Unfortunately we haven't stayed in building 26, so I don't know about bus noise.

Thanks Deb&Bill....for the explanation about Studios/1BR's becoming 2BR's. I see how that works...I wondered if there were 1BR Dedicated, not lockoffs. :lmao: Oh well, you can see in my excitement how I got confused I hope!! LOL And like you, we will probably never stay in a studio again! Looking forward to more room this trip.

Just want to get some opinions on Bldg 26 and if there are good views from the balcony in that bldg, etc.... any pictures someone can post for me?

Also wanted to add, part of my confusion :confused3 is that the CM told me HH booking category was not available, but then stated our "special request" (near Peninsular Rd bus stop) was putting us in Bldg 26, which looks like HH booking category to me. :confused3

is your reservation in your dvc account yet. It will state wether or not you have booked hospitality house. If not... maybe he meant near building 26? Yes you are correct... 26 is HH area....

We were in building 26 two years ago in a two bedroom with friends and loooooved it! We had a gorgeous view from the second floor of both water and fairway, and loved watching the ducks every day (and feeding them bread too!). The bus stop was just steps away from our building, and the main pool is a short walk across the bridge. Peninsular road is also the first stop on the way back from the parks. We are going in August with the same friends this year, and they told us to request the exact same building, which I did. She told me it wasn't a HH room though, but put the note on - we'll wait for it if we have to when we check in if it's available that day.
Enjoy - the one bedrooms are huge, and the patios are amazing - full table with four chairs and a ceiling fan/light - lots of room. Our friends call the deck the 'rec room' since we spent so much time on it playing cards, visiting or watching ducks or thunderstorms. And the laundry room is awesome - full size washer and dryer in a separate room instead of a stackable in a closet. Even room to use the ironing board in there and store your dirty clothes in a basket to keep them out of the bedroom. And the full size dining room table with pantry area is wonderful since we stock up on groceries and have meals together every day.
You'll love it - sorry I don't have pictures on my computer of it.
Let us know what you think when you get back!

It's possible DVC has changed the configuration of the HH booking category--but our last 2 trips to OKW we got HH and were put in Bldg 26, which we all loved...

Yes, it's quiet...inside the villa you don't hear any road noise...and it's as close as any villa can be to the Peninsular Rd bus stop...and it's just across the road and down a few steps to Hospitality House area...personally, I think it's "the perfect" spot...(altho we've also stayed at Turtle Pond and loved that, too, for different reasons)...

You'll be blown away by the one-bedroom...it's unbelievably spacious...I don't remember any kind of problem w/access to the bathroom from the living room...I had two college kids w/me...I had the master; they had the pull-out in the living room...we didn't have any access to the bathroom issues at all...

I'm now very curious about whether they've removed Bldg 26 (and the other 3 bldgs in that cul de sac) from the HH category...anyone who's been there recently know?

We've stayed in building 26 and love it there. Its the first bus stop on the way home from a long day at the park. In the morning we walk over to HH to catch the bus which is the last stop on the way to the park. This limits our bus time. Also you are close to the main pool. Hope you have a great trip. OKW is our favorite DVC resort.

Building 26 is Hospitality House. Unless you are assigned that area you will not be placed in building 26. Sorry.

And whether you have booked HH or not, you cannot "book" a specific building number. You can request a building number within the category you have booked, but it is simply a request and never guaranteed. Sometimes they are met, and in the case of asking for a specific building, it would more often not be met.

If I were you I would double check on the category you have booked and perhaps reword the request. :)

Just to consolidate information....Building 26 IS in the Hospitality House booking catagory and you MUST be specifically booked in that catagory to have a reservation in that building. It has wonderful views, and will be very quiet and there will NOT be an extra door into the bathroom from the laundry room.

If you are NOT booked in a Hospitality House reservation, they would likely put you in buildings 27, 28, or 29, and those are NOT good views, but they are Pennisular Road.

Thank you so much for all of this information. I am going to call MS back (have to add ME info anyway) and clarify this request. We would love to be in building 26 it seems! Hopefully we will get our requests met.... Let you know what they say!

Ok on with Member Services right now and this is what CM is telling me:

HH booking category is ONLY buildings 62-63-64 but of course those are reserved for guests needing elevators in most instances....

I do have the request for Bldg 26 on the reservation but it is NOT in the HH booking category. Comments? :confused3 Looking at the map and previous posts regarding the HH category it seems they have changed this recently?

I think we'll be happy with that location. Looking forward to a much bigger room and longer stay!! Hopefully we get a great room for our celebrations this year!

Note to self: Need to order birthday cakes!!

Unless things have changed " Due to membership requests and feed back" you were told wrong. HH buildings are 11-14,23-26 and 63 only. You better call back and get a differant CM.

Updated: My mistake 63 is not HH

This was helpful to us as well - when I booked back in February, the girl told me #26 was not HH, but she would place a request on our ressie for that building, which she did. I called this morning and indeed there was a note for building 26, but not for HH, so he told me we would most likely get 27-29.
Soooo, he changed my request to HH, and we can only hope one is available in Building 26 when we arrive. If not, we will take building 33 at Turtle Pond, because the view there is amazing, there is the Turtle Pond pool steps away, and the bus stop is right outside the door.:goodvibes

Wow ~ this is news to me too :confused3 !

Anyone else out there recently told by MS that buildings previously in HH cat are now NOT ?

( Enjoy those birthday celebrations hockeyprincess :-) !!!

OKWMap-January2008.jpg

As you can see from the map, the HH booking catagory is buildings 11, 12, 13, 14, 23, 24, 25, and 26.

We're checking in to OKW on May 3. Although we don't have the HH category reserved, I think I'm going to ask at the front desk about what buildings are considered HH category. Should be interesting.
