This morning I just booked a 2 bedroom value at Jambo house for Jan. 22-29th.
We had planned on booking this trip in Feb. when the 11th month window opened, but that week my 3 yr. old got very ill and had to be rushed to the hospital. It turns out he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
We were so shocked and devastated by his diagnosis we thought we would not be traveling for a long time.
But, 9 weeks later, as a family we are beginning to adjust to our new reality. So I decided to book our family vacation as planned. I figure by January we will have lived with his new diagnosis for almost a year, and it will be nice to have that to look forward to. I was so happy to find that I was able to reserve the type of room we wanted, even though the 11 mo. window is long gone. I know traveling will be a new challenge for us, but I am happy to say that we are not going to let diabetes get in the way of us living a normal, happy life. And we are definitely not going to let it keep us from our Happy Place!:lovestruc

Congratulations! You are going to have a fantastic time... we were there in Feb. and our 2.5 DS loooved the animals! We actually just bought DVC AKL this week.

On another note.... I used to nanny for a young girl that was diagnosed with Type 1. I did all the classes and appts with the family. It was quite an adjustment but she is doing well now. She was 10 at the time of diagnosis. She did injections for a long time, but now she has the pump. Which works very well for her. Hang in there..... eventually it will be second nature for your family.

And of course have a great time!!!

Congrats on the trip!

My son will turn three this weekend, and was diagnosed with type 1 when he was 20 months old. We did his first disney trip almost a year after he was diagnosed. It wasn't too bad, although his numbers were all over the place. Pack lots of supplies, and test often.

If you haven't yet, check out childrenwithdiabetes.com There are a lot of parents with type 1 kids, and quite a few parents with toddlers. There is definitely a lot of support and help over there.
