Reservations at VGF are actually fairly easy to get currently for non-home owners.
DVC has declared a large amount more inventory of rooms than what they have sold, thus those rooms are open to non-home users at seven months. I actually have two trips coming up to VGF in the next five months, one in January in a one-bedroom lake view and the other in May in a studio lake view.
Anticipate VGF becoming more difficult to book when it sells out. But never impossible, as there will always be VGF owners deciding to use those points to stay elsewhere.
Actually I suspect that after their first couple of trips "home" on the VGF
point charts, a good fraction of those new VGF owners will be taking a hard look at using their points at the much lower point-cost DVC options. This, of course, remains to be seen.
Some folks certainly bought VGF solely to stay at VGF. But a lot of the new owners will inevitably realize how many more nights they could get for the same points at a different location, and make that decision. Which is part of the beauty of the system.
