... and I'm surprised that the vegetarian fare hasn't really increased that much since I was last there in 05... :sad1:

I thought there were more of us now.

Still plenty enough to choose from, as long as I stick to the counter service and full service restaurants. A little more expensive that way, but with the portions being so huge, I only eat once a day! :lmao:

:rotfl::lmao:

I guess that none of you guys are veggies then? 37 reads and no replies? :rotfl2:

Just me that's a fuss pot! :hippie:

My Friend who is a vegetarian tells me she finds it really hard to find anything healthy to eat at WDW. I am not a vegetarian but enjoy non meat food. There is not a lot of variety at all....the US certainly is geared up towards its meat lovers!

Back in the early nineties when I was still a vegetarian, I spent a whole three weeks eating nothing but mashed potatoes and onion rings:rotfl: (I was also a teenager who didn't eat salad!!:lmao:) - has it improved much since those days??? - now that I am a meat eating girl again I don't really notice these things!!:goodvibes

It takes a bit of searching to find anything veggie (not sure even the veggie meals could be called healthy!) but it can be done...

Can't say I've had to live on mashed potato and onion rings though! :lmao:

Most of the more expensive eateries in WDW have one veggie option. And I've noticed a Noodle Bar in MK! Sounds lovely to me! Anyone tried it?

I never used to understand how anyone could survive as a veggie, had to have meat every meal but after eating at Sweet Tomatoes found out I could enjoy meat free meals.

Try this thread on Dibb, 21 days of DDP with her husband a Veggie, might help you.

Sweet Tomatoes are on Idrive and new one at Croassroads LBV just opened if you can get to either of them.

Thank you, I'll read that thread with interest!

I remember Sweet Tomatoes from my '03 visit - it was amazing. By the time we went there I was so fed up with pasta that I went a bit mad on the salads!

We'll have a car this time, so off-site dining will probably be an option for one or two meals, I had Sweet Tomatoes in mind!

A veggie friend of mine went to Virginia on business about 15 years ago and went with a group of workmates to a steakhouse (not her choice). She could find nothing on the menu for a veggie and when she asked the waitress what they had for vegetarians, the waitress pointed towards the rear window of the restaurant and said that there was plenty of grass out the back! :rotfl:

As a big meat eater I can't believe I like ST so much, we go numerous times each trip. Make sure you register on their website with Club Veg, they send you buy one get one free vouchers often(every month recently), with vouchers 4 can eat there for $28 incl 4 refillable sodas. If you register do it about a month before going and enter your Birthday as day before you go, they usually send a Birthday voucher, valid for 2 weeks.

Let us know what you think of the food on that thread.

I think I'm only about half way through that thread, but it's fascinating!

What a time they must have taken to put together that report...

However, I now have a new (to me) place on my list to try - lunch at Tusker House! That looked great for veggies, not a pizza or pasta in sight! :lmao:

I'm not totally veggie, we do try to have a meat free meal at least once a week:)
We went to the Tusker House last year, and I can confirm the veggie selection looked very good. Unfortunately, I have a severe allergy to rosemary, (weird, I know), and all the meat dishes were cooked with rosemary, and the couscous, oh and the potato wedges; but the humous, bread and deserts were good! The salmon was good aswell. Do you eat fish? Dh loved it there, and ate enough for me aswell. He then complained of indigestion all afternoon, so we walked him all around the park and made him go on Ee!:rotfl2:

No, I'm afraid I don't eat fish either... (supremely fussy then! :lmao: )

Tusker House sounds like a definite, I think we'd all enjoy that one (me, I was gonna say DH but we're not married, and I can't really call them 2xDS as they're not mine and live with mummy!)

I've remembered a bit of a veggie whoops I had in Epcot. Strolling around the World Showcase, myself and ex-DH stopped in Morocco for lunch. I had a veggie platter, he had some kind of mediterranean platter. We were telling each other how nice it was, and he said that I must try one of the two types of bread he had. I picked a piece up, it felt fairly solid for bread, but then bread can be like that sometimes. Smelt lovely, all herby, so popped it in my mouth and chewed away. Thought it was a VERY strange consistency for bread, and it wasn't for another couple of moments before it dawned on me....

It was his CHICKEN! :lmao: Daft sod couldn't tell the difference....

Oh yeah, and not been on EE yet, that's gonna be a new one for me!

As a vegan I can reccommend the noodle station in the MK, the only thing is that is only open in peak times.

How on EARTH do you cope there as a vegan?? It's difficult enough being veggie, and I eat dairy!

(Or should that read "How in the WORLD do you cope...." :rotfl: )

recall a visit to a bbq pit, pair on next table the lady asked for some vegitarin dishes.they brought out a massive bowl of coleslaw while her partner eat a bbq meal for 2

:) That is such a man thing! My DH went shopping and came back with some organic ham that was stuffed with herbs. First ingredient, you've guessed it, rosemary!
You will love EE, it's awesome!! We went on it in the dark on an evening EMH, and it was even more awesome (if that's possible!!)
Just a thought, I know it's not a meal, but my SiL loves the cheese stuffed pretzels. She hunts around all the parks trying to find the CM's that have them!
Oh and mama melrose have this lovely dish which is aubergine (or should I say eggplant!), tomatoes and mozzerella.

If you go to a tables service you can have the chef come out and cook for you.....this is what we do.

My bf is vegetarian (no fish either, he was really annoyed in DLP that fish dishes were being labelled as veggie and I don't blame him!) and didn't have any problems eating at WDW, both TS and CS. His favourite TS meals were Boma, Coral Reef and California Grill and he loved the veggie burger at Cosmic Ray's (I think they're Boca burgers) but he didn't have a bad meal anywhere apart from Olive Garden which neither of us liked anyway and I had a chicken dish ;) Off-site favourites were Sweet Tomatoes (and he's not usually a salad type of person), Cheesecake Factory and Buca Di Beppo (this was actually in California but they do have a branch in Orlando) At Disney he told the server he was vegetarian and most were really accomodating, offering larger portions of a starter if he didn't like the main and/or offering to have one of the meat-based mains specially made to be vegetarian. Chef TJ in Boma was particularly good, he cooked up an enormous wok full of vegetarian stirfry! It was so huge we could barely make a dent in it since we'd already started on the buffet :)

Just as an aside, I was told at Boma last week that TJ has moved on to O'Hana. I was gutted.
