We just got back, yesterday, from a great trip! We took our friends for their first visit, so there were 8 of us. Stayed at the BCV, went to all 4 parks, DQ, Chef Mickey's, Fantasmic dinner pkg. at Hollywood & Vine. Then moved over to the Hard Rock Hotel and did UO/IOA.

Any Questions??

Glad you had a great time. I don't have any questions, I just wanted to say welcome back!

Now that I think about it, I do have a question. How did your friends like it? Did they enjoy it as much as you wanted them to?

Are you going to submit a room report for your BCV room on the resorts board?

Was the order of Disney first and Universal second the right way to do it?

How was the HRH?

Thanks
jaysue

Welcome back! Will you be writing a trip report?

Were you pleased with the meal at H&V? The last time we did the dinner package and ate there we felt it was not a good value. The food part, not the Fantasmic part ;)

It is so much fun to tour WDW with newbies. Were they thrilled? Were they impressed with your WDW expertise?

chellnjr: I think they had a great time the kids DS 10, DD 11 kept hugging me the whole trip. They had never been to any theme parks other than SFOT. All 8 of us stayed together, I was a little worried about that, but we ALL had a great time.

Jaysue: I will post a room report (loved that 1 bdrm). I think the WDW then US/IOA is the best way to go. Our time at US/IOA was much more relaxing, since there is no early entry and we had FOTL at all rides. The only let down was moving from the villa to a regular room, the room was nice at Hard Rock, but I sure missed that big villa. HRH is a great hotel!! You can be at US in about 4 or 5 min walking and IOA in about 9 or 10 min. walking. The pool is very nice. And all the stuff to look at was fun.

nativetxn: I do plan to write a trip report once we get unpacked! I thought the H&V dinner was better than last year, and it worked out reat with 8 people with many different taste. I liked the buffet at Chef Mickey's better. Fantasmic was great as always, but we were a little worried about it getting rained out.

Welcome back! How was the weather? How nice to see WDW with newbies! Glad you had a good time!

Welcome back and I'm glad to hear that you had a nice time! I thought at first that you didn't enjoy yourself because of the sad face on your post, but I guess that's there because you're back, right :) ? How was the weather and crowds?

yes, the sad face was because we had leave:(

the crowds were not that bad at all. All the parks seemed to be less crowded than this time last year. The biggest crowd we saw was when we went to MK Sat. night for spectro and Fireworks. We got there before 8PM for the 9PM parade and people were already lined up on main street, but there were plenty of places in Liberty Square to get a curb side seat. They were calling for rain for all of this weekend and next week on the news yesterday.

Glad you had a good time.it is always fun taking people that have never been.

You aren't far from me at all then!

Tracie, at first when I was the sad face I was worried that you were going to say that you didn't have a good time. After I opend the thread I knew better.

Can't we just all move into the castle? :p

Tracie-
How were your seats with the dinner package? I'm thinking of doing to same thing next month, not sure which restaurant yet, but I've heard the seats with the package aren't that good?

Welcome back! we just got back as well and LOVED the one-bedroom at BCV! it was just sooo awesome!!
FOTL at USF is the best thing on this Earth...it makes it so much easier and relaxing

When you were at HRH, did you walk or take the boat to the parks? how long did it take? we stayed at RPH and walked everytime b/c we could beat the boat everytime!

I have a couple of questions. Did you eat at Chef Mickey's for dinner or breakfast? We've got the dinner scheduled for our first night and I wanted to know your opinion about the food.

HRH - My hubby and I have reservations for the Hard Rock after our cruise in November and I'd like more details about the hotel. Did you eat at any of the restaurants? What type of room did you have? Were you offered an upgrade to concierge? How about the pool? Did you rent a cabana? Did you have a chance to make it over the Portofino? I miss that hotel.

Sorry for so many questions but thanks in advance for answering them!

zerasPride: We ate dinner at CM... I thought the food was really good and a nice selection on the buffet. This is my 2 DS (10,13) favorite place to eat dinner. There was a cornbread cassarole that was very good and 1 of the kids had an entire plate of mac & cheese. There was prime rib, chicken (fried and barBque) some kind of steak, pork and lots of side dishes and I think my kids made a mini kithchen sink at the dessert bar. The characters were great! Minnie sat on my husbands lap for a picture and then kept coming back tho make eyes at him, very cute. This was about our 5th or 6th dinner at CM and we have never been disappointed.

We had a standard pool view room on the 2nd floor, I have a blue lowes card, but did not ask for an upgrade and was not offered one, but we did not check in until after 3PM We did have the entertainment rate and did receive the cookies and milk and the newspaper. I thought the room was really nice and the sink outside the bathroom along with the one inside made it nice for all 4 of us to get ready. The hotel is beautiful and all the display cases were fun to look at. The pool was awesome, according to my kids and the end of the slide was more shallow than SAB, so my 10 yr old liked the HRH slide better.

I did walk over to the PBH early one morning, while everyone else was sleeping. It is a beautiful hotel and I plan on staying there next time.

WDWfan288: We walked from HRH to the parks, we went up a trail behind the waterslide and were at US within 3 to 4 min and at IOA in I would guess less than 10 min with some of our group stopping in citywalk to look. The path behind the pool was not as pretty of a walk, you see the parking lot, but it sure was quick. We never even tried the boat.

MariaE: This was our second time for the FDP, and I think the seats are fine we got to the gate by the gas station (can't remember the name) more than 30 min before the show (about 35-40) and sat in the section just right of the middle section on about the 4th row up (we could have been on the 1st row if we wanted) There was only 1 show on the 16th and people were in line almost 2 hrs before the show at the main entrance. I really don't think the seats are bad at all, maybe if you cut it right down to the last min. and have to sit to the far right and way back they would not be that great. I had heard the seats were not that good also, but I video taped the entire show and got everything on tape. Hope that helps. We rode RRC twice after people started lining up for the show.

Chell: I'm with you on living in the castle, but it would be without my DH!!

Sorry these post are so looonngg, I get so much help on these boards I want to help answer any questions I can, so if you get bored with my rambling let me know!!

I appreciate your comments. I'm looking forward to CM for dinner and the food sounds good. I've read some not-so-great reviews on the restaurant board but I can't think of a better way to start off our trip and not use theme park admission. I hope my two nieces enjoy this meal.

It sounds like you enjoyed your stay at the Hard Rock. My hubby insists we try it out this time since we've stayed at the Portofino twice already. I'm looking forward to it but know I'll want to spend some time walking around the Portofino and enjoying a pizza from Sal's Deli.

Thanks again for the reviews!

We walked over for pizza at Sal's Deli It was really good!

Hi Tracie! Are you DVC members? I was wondering what the set up was for the 2 families at BCV. Thanks!

No, We are not DVC members, but I hope to talk DH into it. DH gave me the trip for our 20th Anniversary. We were a cash reservation. We wanted to book a 2 bdrm. but none were available, so we were in a 1 bdrm. and our friends were in a studio down the hall. They came to our room to cook/eat and do laundry. It worked out great.
