Just back from a week in the World. Stayed at the Caribbean Beach resort....Aruba building 54 room 5405....
Was kind of apprehensive of staying here after reading some negative things about the resort, not just on here but trip adviser also. But we loved it there, our room was a short walk to the bus stop which was a plus! Now you have to keep this in mind it was just two of us myself and DH if I had small kids I can see why people say this resort spaced out to far. The main building with the food court is not conveniently located but for us it wasnt an issue....again because we were not traveling with kids just adults. The room was very clean and comfortable so I we would stay here again!
The parks were crowded which was to be expected it was Memorial Day weekend we were there from the 22-29 but it was a manageable crowded not a Christmas crowded were your shoulder to shoulder with people.
Loved the new ride in Fantasyland , the one with Ariel it was really neat. Just made me wonder though why they would use the same type of car in the ride as the one in Epcot, the clam shell, they are identical to the ones in the ride from Epcot, just thought that was weird, figured new ride would not have duplicated cars for the riders, but maybe they had an abundance of them and decided to cut corners who knows.
Absolutely loved what they did to the Test Track in EPCOT the ride is much better and the interactive que is fun, yea it may hold the lines up a little but then again maybe not, I mean that ride was always a long wait unless you fast passed it.
The flies that people have been talking about on here are GONE .....not sure if why they were there but we were only bothered by one or two while we were sitting over by Caseys in MK. Other than that no bother! Which was a big yea for us!

We really had an awesome trip ,,,,saw a couple of cranky cast members , but I just went out of my way to be extra polite and pleasant to them and got smiles out of all three I came across, these people put up with alot from John Q Public afterall!
We didnt so the 24 hour thing, there was no way I was dong that to myself, but I did talk to a couple of cm's who told me they were surprised about how many little little kids in strollers people brought back into the park, one cm said the amount of little kids in the park at 3 AM was baffling to her, and that these poor little ones were not happy, and that people started to get a little punchy around 3:30 am . No thank you glad I avoided that.

Now for the part that I feel I need to post .
On Saturday night my husband and I left the park early and decided we would go over to Downtown Disney just to shop and walk around. I needed to use the facilities so went over to the one that is between Trend-E close to Earl of Sandwich area. And of course there was a line, there always is in the womens bathroom! So I am standing in line waiting , DH is sitting a ways away waiting for me, and a man approaches me and says to me , " You dont need to wait in line for this bathroom there is another one right over there,, (I have been here 12 times I know were they are) I looked at him and said where? He points and says to me see those red lights over there, there is one right over there ( no such bathroom) I say to him I dont know where your talking about, he then proceeds to take my elbow and say Come with me I will show you! ,,,,,I told him and not very nicely to get away from me I knew where the bathrooms were and he was lying, He took off like a shot!......I immediately left the line and my husband went over to the vacation club hut and told a cm who called security who were there in a shot , they took my description of the guy and beefed up security around the area. Now my concern was this like I told security , I am an adult women, and Im not small not big , but what if this person approached a teen girl or a smaller girl and they were naive enough to go with this man and that scared me. So to anyone who thinks it is okay to let your children who are to young to go to the bathroom by themselves go alone because you are lulled into the false sense of this is Disney nothing will happen think again. There are weirdos everywhere. And the very next day a 6 or 7 year old girl was in the womens bathroom with me by herself and asked me to pick her up so she could reach the soap at the sink, I asked her where her mom was and she said inline at the ride! I was amazed by this. So please be on the watch for people like this!

Well other than that if you have questions feel free to ask and if I can I will answer them. Other than that we had an Awesome time and I am going back in Sept for a mother...daughter birthday trip ...cant wait!!!!:dance3:

Wow! Thanks for posting this. You just can't be to safe anywhere.

That's great that you had a nice trip! Thanks for posting about that- it's a real eye opener that there are weirdos and sick people all over the place, Disney World being no exception. There was 1 time I let my 7 year old son go into the men's bathroom and I took my DD into the ladies; and rushed to make sure I was out before he got out-- but I will NOT do that again, I guess he will just have to come in the lady's room with me or me watch him go in to men's and wait for him right outside- just talked to DH about that after reading your post, b/c anything can happen.

Very smart of you to go to a CM and have them alert security. Creeps are everywhere, ugh.

My son is exceptionally big (6'1" and he's now 13) but when he was younger I refused to let him go into the men's room himself. Ladies would look strangely at me that I would bring what appeared to be such an "old" child into the restroom but his safety was of the utmost importance to me and I will never question a male child in the ladies room. Children have different mental and physical differences and you never know.

100% agree! Several months ago, we stopped at a gas station while traveling and of course, took my then 6 YO son (also tall for his age) in the ladies room with me. Afterwards, we were looking at something in the store and a woman walks by and quietly and rudely says something to me about him being too old. She said he should have waited on me outside. I went off on her! She kept staying it wrong that she had to worry about him being in there. And he was perfect in there! Even if he wasn't, he is a little boy at a highway gas station. I will NOT leave him outside the door or send him in the men's room alone.

Next February, he'll be 1 month shy of 8 and we are going on a mother/son trip. Yes, he will be accompanying me to the ladies room!

1. I think this is THE BEST advice I have heard on dealing with cranky cast members. They human, after all! I work with large numbers of John Q Public as well and come August I am NOT the same happy person I am in say, February, lol.

2. YIKES! :scared: How scary!!!! I think my hubby would have gone after the guy, himself, lol! And it is amazing how people think just b/c they are in a kid friendly area that their children are safe. There's no such thing, folks.

So glad you enjoyed CBR. That is where DH and I stayed on our first WDW trip together. We had a garden view room in Aruba and we just loved it!:cloud9:

Re: bathroom line incident.... WOW! Thank you sooo much for sharing that. It is so scary a man would approach an adult woman in that way. I shudder to think about the youngsters, including teens that are left alone in line or in a bench. Be aware folks. Anything can happen anywhere!!!! Please don't leave your kids thinking they are responsible. They probably are, but that is not the issue.

Re: taking a DS into the woman's bathroom..... Absolutely you may!
(just make sure they stay with you and know not to peak under the stalls ;)). Your child's safety is just a tad more important than what others think.

OP, thank you for sharing and for alerting security. :thumbsup2

Did you have the Nemo bedspreads or the white ones that have been in pictures lately? I'm leaving tomorrow for the weekend and the plain white bedspread pics have been driving me crazy. They look so boring. :(

We had the white bedspread in our room but we had a king size bed so Im not sure if that would make a difference.

How creepy about the bathroom incident!!!! Yikes! So glad you posted it as a warning to others. I see nothing wrong with boys going in the ladies room if necessary. Not sure why people make such a big deal about it. I mean everyone is in a stall. Heck, my son is 2 (and potty-trained) and sometimes I have to leave the stall door open to accomodate both of us in there. It's like so what??? Everyone pees and poops, move along.

there was an incident in the bathroom at Hollywood Studios , apparently a non handicapped person was using the handicap stall and was in there for quite some time , meanwhile there was a lady in a wheelchair waiting with her two adult daughters for the stall to become unoccupied, not knowing who was in the stall. So when the non handicapped woman came out of the stall this woman who was wheel chair bound ,,,,,she went off on her ( cant say I blame her) she told the woman out of 16 stalls she had to take the handicap one she couldnt wait for one of the others to open up,,,,considering there is only one handicap stall per restroom maybe two( never have noticed if two or more existed) I completely understood where she was coming from, she told the woman you have 15 choices in here to use a stall I have one and you take it upon yourself to occupy it, only the words going back and fourth were not as pleasant as I am putting it, and needless to say this went on for a good few seconds with the two daughters getting involved and the other woman who came out of the stall swearing back at the handicap woman.

Now this made me think.......one how come we put handicap parking in all parking lots in the front of the stores the very front....yet we make the handicap individuals go all the way to the back of a bathroom to use a stall?....should they also not be located in the front of the bathroom?

and with all of the handicap individuals that do to Disney, ( and I am in no way be insensitive here) wouldnt it be more convenient for people who are handicap to have a handicap accessible bathroom just dedicated to handicapped individuals where all the sinks and stalls accommodate wheel chairs and their needs? Surely in this day and age you would think someone would have thought of this and utilized it. I mean if I was handicapped I would also take offense to someone who is not holding up the Only stall I could use because they didnt want to wait , and I have no option but to now wait and it takes me longer to use the facilities because I am handicapped.

Just the things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm;)

Thank you for posting about your experience at DTD. My daughter is 12 and I frequently let her go to the restroom without me. I will tell her about this and go with her.

Very scary incident. Glad you let Security know about it.

Wow .. very scary .. so happy you knew where the bathrooms were enough to not follow that guy ...
