So we did the DxDDP for 7 nights.

The stand-out meals were California Grill, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Yak n Yeti, Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch), Kona Cafe. CRT (yes, I almost passed out from the shock!). These were all surprisingly good and the food was fresh and amazing.

The biggest disappointments of the trip were as follows:

*Pecos Bill's: What happened? We usually LOVE the burgers here. As soon as I set the tray down, my DH and I looked at each other and then at the burgers and wondered what was going on. These were not the fresh, amazing burgers we usually get. We walked through the rain to get gray, small, cafeteria steam-table burgers. YUCK! We'll try Tortuga Tavern next time.

*Narcoosee's: Amazing black bean and lobster soup and crab cakes. However, the entrees were disappointing. Cheap cuts of beef, and the lobster was rubbery. The desserts were boring at best. Not going to return next trip. NOT worth 2 TS.

*50's Prime Time: The appetizers were nasty with the exception of the onion rings. The shakes were good, as was the fried chicken and the desserts. However, the other entrees were boring and tasteless...especially the pot pie. May try CS next time at DHS.

We loved Yak and Yeti and will definitely return next trip...SO good. Same thing goes for Cali Grill and Kona. Liberty Tree Tavern is one we always do for the Toffee Cake, but it was especially good this trip, though the appetizer without the fried cheddar curds was not as good.

CRT had an amazing pork dish over a corn cake...called Pork Three Ways...and I wish I could make it at home. SO good. The appetizers were good and the tenderloin was good, too.

SO disappointed about Pecos Bill's...just sad to see that nasty burger and realize that we don't have a "go to" burger at WDW any more.

Thanks for the reviews. What did you eat at Yak and Yeti? I am glad to hear it was good as we are trying it for the first time in August but reviews lately have been somewhat mixed.

At Yak and Yeti, our group got the pot stickers, egg rolls, and lettuce cups for appetizers. All were excellent! For entrees, I got the crispy honey chicken and my DH got the tempura shrimp. I tried both and they were both really good. My parents got the chicken lo mein and loved it. For dessert, we got the dessert wontons, mango pie, and the cheesecake. All of the desserts were amazing.

Oh, and I got a Yak Attack cocktail...SOOOOOO good!!!!

Thanks for sharing! We were also very disappointed about Pecos Bill's last summer. We did enjoy our burgers at Cosmic Ray's, though. I have a feeling they are all the same burgers in the CS venues, but for some reason, our last 2 visits to Pecos Bill's were not good, while CR's was satisfying. The fixin's bar was much better maintained at CR's as well. And they have sorbet and gelato for dessert.

What did you order specifically at Narcoossee's? What should we avoid? Did you try the almond cheesecake? We will be dining there in August for the first time, and we would love to know what to order. Normally, I love surf and turf, but your review sounds not good.

What was great at LTT lunch?

Thanks again!

At Narcoosee's, I ordered the black bean and lobster soup for my appetizer, and my DH ordered the crab cakes. Both were really good, but the soup was actually the winner...and I LOVE crab. We both ordered the surf and turf. The potatoes were amazing, but the steak was a cheaper cut and the lobster was just not cooked well. We also got the fish, and it was very bland. No flavor at all.

At Liberty Tree, we got the fried mozzarella and the beef vegetable soup for appetizers. The soup was one of the best I have ever had...definitely the best beef vegetable I have ever tasted. For entrees, everyone got the burger or the pot roast, and they were both excellent. For the dessert, we got the Toffee cake and the chocolate cake. The chocolate cake, which my dad got, was a little dry...not that great. Everyone else got the toffee cake and loved it.

Oh my that IS disappointing about Pecos Bills that is also our Counter Service go to place although I recently heard on the DIS unplugged podcast that ABC Comissary that the burgers there aren't bad and at The Mara too at AKL.

Now that I will be trying :thumbsup2 Thanks - I am planning to get the honey chicken, I think (will depend what mood I'm in on the day though)

Honey chicken all the way, it's divine!

I also wasn't impressed with Peco Bills when we were there in September last year. I felt so guilty because I had told my DH that it was suppose to be really nice etc. We didn't finish our food, it was not even warm, the burgers were gross. It was one of the worst meals we ate there. :sad2:

AFter reading this thread and other posts, we will definitely be going to Yak and Yeti when we visit again. Sounds great there :thumbsup2

Yak Attacks are so good! They sell them at a stand outside, too.

Did you all have the skillet at Whispering Canyon?

We ate at Whispering Canyon twice...once for a planned dinner, then an unplanned lunch right before we got on the ME bus to the airport.

We got the pork spring rolls for an appetizer and they were amazing! The queso and chips were good, but nothing special. My dad got the cheddar soup and it was NASTY. Definitely skip that. We all got the skillet at dinner and it was really, really good. Salad was amazing, and the rest of the skillet was just as good.

At WCC for lunch, my mom got the meatloaf sandwich and loved it. I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was amazing. My DH and my dad got the burgers and said they were one of the best they have ever had. The desserts were okay, but the one that stood out as the best was the apple struesel pie. Really good.

Disappointed to hear about the burgers at Pecos Bills. We ate there for the first time last year and enjoyed it so much we planned to eat there more than once on our next trip.

I was so disappointed at Pecos Bill's. Honestly, it's one of our "must-do" meals and I convinced my parents to walk through the rain from Tomorrowland to go have lunch there. They definitely didn't think it was worth the walk, rain or shine.

We loved Yak and Yeti and will definitely return next trip...SO good. Same thing goes for Cali Grill and Kona. Liberty Tree Tavern
.

I love your taste! Yak & Yeti is our fave TS in all the parks, and we love Kona, CG, and LTT too. :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about Pecos Bill's though...I hope the quality of the rest of the meals hasn't changed as well. That's our favorite CS in MK, but I always get the chicken wrap and my DH is extremely faithful to their taco salad. If they mess up that salad, he'll be heartbroken!

I ate at Pecos Bill's for the first time last week. I had the taco salad and was very pleased with it, mainly because of the toppings bar. I enjoyed it so much that I went back another day and had it again.

I, too, always enjoy LTT (lunch) and California Grill. I've never impressed with Narcoossee's.

Me too! We had the taco salad twice last trip as well. With onion rings as an added snack. :goodvibes I didn't have a single burger last trip. I haven't been happy with CS burgers at WDW or DLR for years now.
