Won't be around for a bit, as I have that post-Disney depression of knowing I have about 15 months before I can go back, but here is a brief synopsis, and happy to answer any questions.

9-night stay at the Beach Club Villas in a studio, Room 469, with a great view of Spaceship Earth and the fireworks, but I must say the rumors are true, that's a long walk after a day at the parks :cool1:

To me the crowds were about the same as previous years in the last week of August, I honestly didn't see much a difference at all because of the free dining. Used TGM and his best days and did not have a wait of more than 10 minutes the entire week. The only crowded exceptions were...

1) I doubt there will be too many more easy touring days at AK. Everest is just an amazing ride (My first time this week). Disney did a tremendous job with it, and I think lots of people will be spending more time in the park so that they can ride this a few times each day. The run-off of those people into the other attractions is something we may have to deal with.

2) Friday, September 1st was a bit busy at night at the MK, but I think that had more to do with Labor Day crowds/Tom Joyner reunion than anything else.

MGM was empty the two days that we went. TOT was pretty much a walk-on all week. That could also be based on Ernesto one day as well. Or the fact that the Wiggles were playing, I don't know.

We spent most of our time at Epcot, and the lines here the six times we went were always manageable. Even Soarin was only a 20-minute wait Thursday afternoon around 4 p.m.

And Magical Beginnings. Indeed. All those parents worried about jerks like me stealing their magic from the kiddies can zip it. We went Friday, as I said we would, and there were so few people there, CM's were praying people would ride the attractions. The Hide and Seek with Peter Pan and what not was very funny, as was Goofy riding the Carousel, et al...

So yeah, relax, no one was there. Enjoy your time just like the rest of us.

As for dining, we were on the dining plan, but not the free one. The service at some of the places was a little less than the usual exceptional attitude I expect from Disney. Sad to say, but some places knew they were getting 18 percent and were putting in the minimal effort. Sad, because I am more than willing to go higher than that average rate if the service is worth it. But I can answer any questions on these places as well:

San Angel Inn (surprisingly enjoyed it)
Citrico's (very nice)
Boma (continues to get better and better)
Teppanyaki (reduced menu has limited the options on the DP, sad)
Marraskesh (lunch- always a good meal)
Le Cellier (First time for lunch. A nice meal, would go again)
Coral Reef (Love the ambience, food falls short)
Chef Mickey's (an average buffet)

All right, that's all I have for now. Questions I will answer. It was a very entertaining, lovely, and relaxing 9 day getaway.

Glad you had a great time - we also just got back (Friday) after 8 nights at the WL. I agree that EE is probably bringing more people into AK, but I was surprised that it didn't seem to be affecting the other major attractions...we walked onto the Safari and Dinosaur, the latter multiple times. Got to FOTLK with five minutes to spare and still got good seats...Flights of Wonder had plenty of empty seats...trails weren't crowded. So where WERE all those people who were waiting for their EE FP times??

Rainforest Cafe?

I have no idea, now that I think about it. ITTBAB was a bit longer than usual, and completely full both times we did it, but you are correct Dinosaur was a walk-on, and the Safari was right around 10-20 as well.

We got back last night and agree, no crowds at all. People were nervous that free dining would bring in crowds...not at all. We walked on most rides and even able to stay on and ride a 2nd time. EE was a 10 min wait for us about 9:20 in the morning, got off and rode again with a 15 min wait. Other than that, no lines. Soarin' was walk on several times that we were there with a 10 min wait once.

Could you please provide some details about your experience at Teppanyaki, and your overall impression of the restaurant?

Thanks for posting this, hoping it stays less crowded for this upcoming weekend. :)

I'm not looking forward to my post Disney depession.

We won't be planning a trip for about 4 more years :( :( :(

Thanks for the report. I understand the post-Disney depression--being 8 months back from Disney myself. I hope to go during this same time period some time when my children are older.

Is it too early to start my new countdown time (28 months unless DD joins College Program in 2008)?

Can you provide more details on San Angel Inn? We have ressies there Oct 1 :cool1: Thank you!

Question, what do you mean about Teppanyaki limited options on the dining plan? I understood it was anything o the menu? We paid for our DDP...my son was there in August on the DDP (he paid too, it was before the freebie) and he said they could order anything. We are doing Teppanyaki for the CP dinner package.

Coral Reef: Yep. That is exactly what I thought when we went last October and we will be skipping it this time. Same goes for the SciFi Diner as far as I am concerned, but the ambiance is enough we are going back in December. Skipped it last trip but this time it was one of my son's requests.

I was at Disney the 1-5th of Sept. We went to AK and MGM on Sunday and I thought there was lots of people. We were at MK on Saturday and got to do all the rides. Monday at Epcot. Crowded, but got alot done. Also we found we took the boat over to Morrocco around 11:30 and there was tons of characters to get pictures with including Micky Mouse. And no lines! We went to Teppenaki and had a great time. The appetizers weren't that great but we had the beef fillet and it was very good. The deserts were ok too. Ice cream, fresh pineapple or some kind of cake. I would go back. Fun show! I wish we could have stayed the first full week of Sept like you. But I am fortunate to be going back in two weeks. I'll let you know how crowded then.

So glad to hear about your great trip with low crowds. I'm going to BCV next week, and I have one very important question-at BC Marketplace, did you leave some gelato for me? Also, if you went to SAB, how busy was it in the afternoon? And what did you have at Coral Reef? Sorry to hear the food isn't too good-I guess the ambience is the real appeal. I'm excited to hear about Soarin', I love that attraction.

Teppanyaki has moved two menu items off of the entrees menu onto a specialties menu (which is not included in the Dining Plan). Both the lobster entrees are now on that specialties menu and thereby not available for folks on the Dining Plan (except OOP, of course).

Thanks for the clarification! I had heard that the restaurants with lobster added a surcharge for lobster dishes but I didn't know any of them made it OOP.

Surcharges evidently didn't go over well.
