We just got back from a last minute, very quick trip. Because we planned it only 3 weeks before we left, I knew I probably wouldn't get too many ADRs so I was very happy to get into 50's Prime Time for lunch on Sun. and Kona Cafe for dinner on Sat.
We love 50s and eat there every time. This was by far our best experience here. We had "Sue" as our "Mom" and she was so entertaining! She really gave my DH trouble about elbows on the table and a lot of other stuff. She gave us "homework" and everyone else at her other tables. The food was great - we had fried chicken, pot roast, meatloaf and chicken pot pie, and s'mores for dessert.
We've never been to Kona Cafe before but we'll definitely be back. Our server was very friendly, the food was really good and service was pretty quick. The only minor complaint I had was once we got our food, we never saw our server again for drink refills. When she brought the check I asked for our refills in take home cups and she didn't have a problem with that. I know she was really busy but it seems, at least from posts I've read, to be a recurring problem at Disney restaurants. DH and DS had sushi, both DDs had asian pan noodles, and I had the salad and crab cakes. No dessert this time since we were planning to get ice cream back at MK later, but they sure looked good!
Our favorite by far was Earl of Sandwich in DTD for lunch on Fri. My kids even commented on how relatively cheap it was compared to Disney restaurants! We all had different sandwiches and loved them all. The free refills on drinks was also nice! We all liked it so much that we went back for lunch on our way to the airport on Mon. It will definitely be a must-do at least once on any future trips!
Since we didn't have any ADRs at EP for dinner on Fri. night we decided to "eat around the World" and got a little something and shared it. We had nachos in Mex, potsticker in China, DH had a beer in Ger, sushi in Japan and gelatto in Italy. By then we were too full to finish our tour! Next time we'll have to hit Morocco, fish and chips in GB and get something in France! My kids really liked this since it was something different, and we really enjoyed everything we had.
The only other place we ate was lunch at MK on Sat. We just had chicken sandwiches and nuggets from the OUtpost. It was good, nothing special, just what you'd expect from a CS.
In summary, we had a yummy trip!
