We just got back from our first trip to Universal. We stayed at RPR and had a great time in large part due to lots of tips we found on here, so thanks!

One thing I can't find anything about is something we saw when we were exiting the Discovery Center at Jurassic Park. There was a TM holding a "dinosaur" and I have no idea what it was. It was definately living (I think) and reacted to the kids petting it. What was this? They said it was one of the dinosaurs that hatched in the center, but I really don't get it!

Thanks for any info!
Becky

In the JP Discovery Center, I believe it is the main big building you see across the pond when you first enter IOA (across the pond in the JP area), they have these incubation centers where there are eggs that hatch. It is all animatronic of course not real dinos, I think they do what you are talking about at certain times of the day but I'm not sure when the times are.

They used to have John Hammond come out and interact with people in this area as well, but i didn't see him last week, not sure if he's still there or not. As a matter of fact I think I'll start a new thread about that, I'm curious myself.

You might have seen a hand puppet. The puppet consists of a fake arm making it look like the TM is holding the dinosaur. The TM's real arm is actually running the puppet.

this little guy?

Yes, that is it! Is it really a hand puppet? It sure was real looking to me, but my DH says I'm really gullible and naive!!

I really hope I wasnt the one that told you it was real:lmao: I remember telling a few people last week that "yes, it is a real dino...though its closer to a frog than anything because of the DNA. Where do you think the movie got the idea?"

that's the baby triceratops, it's a lot of fun to watch the kids interact with him when he's out. they do a great job making him appear very lifelike, and the kids walk away thinking they've just touched a real dinosaur.

Its a baby Triceratops. Remember when they used to have the really lifelike Tric in the Ticeratops exerience. What happened to that attraction? That was extremely realistic. They should have put that thing in the water ride instead of totally trashing it.

No, to say I REALLY thought it was real is a bit of a stretch, but I really didn't know what it was :confused3 and knew that you guys would!

yes they should have, and no I dont know why they took it out

They took out Trike Encounter because of the Maintnenace issues on it. It never worked the way it was designed (from what I was told).

I don't know why they're not at least using it as a photo op somewhere in JP, that was an expensive AA just to scrap.

No doubt that had to be about a several million dollar robot, seems like a lot to just chunk out. And even if they just got the head to move, it would be a good addition somewhere in JP, or on the boat ride.

Or even if they just let it sit stationary like the T-Rex and Spinosaurus they have.:confused3
