Just Back...Where's the Value?

Just back from AK. Decided to use our points and stay there. Nice trip and great resort but I won't stay there again unless it is for a night or two. Too cramped. I like my BWV two BR.

O.K. I know it is Spring Break and March is a crowded time to go to WDW. Unfortunately, our kids are getting older and DW is getting her master's degree so we couldn't go in Jan or Feb like we usually do. Oh well.
We spent a night at IOA and took advantage of the FTL pass. Wow! Talk about getting spoiled!
I know with the thousands of rooms that WDW can't do the same thing but..........here it comes..........regarding the lines for rides.......don't I as a resort guest deserve more than someone walking in off the street? Maybe something like more fast passes than standard issue? I just don't see the value in staying at a deluxe resort like when it comes to the parks. And no, I don't think one hour at one park per day is anything special.

We get the parks to ourselves, every day, for an hour....I think that's a pretty good perk (even though I would rather spend that hour sleeping and never use it! )

I don't think the deluxe resorts have anything to do with the parks (except for the obvious). The deluxe resorts are all about the resort experience. and mostly, they do that well, IMHO.

I think Disney should do more for onsite guests - but I don't think it should be attraction based. EMH is fine.

I'd like to see on site guests get a longer PS window. Used to be offsite guests had to make their ressies in park day of, but on site guests got to call for PSs.

I personally like that Disney treats all guests (DVC, Deluxe, Moderate and Value) equally. Although I would have never built Value resorts - in part because the "value" limits what you can do for onsite guests as "complementary" - unless you are willing to discriminate based on hotel.

I really wish Disney would give out a more perks for those staying at a Disney Resort. But more so than this I would really like to see Disney giving DVC members perks that would be an incentive to continue visiting the theme parks. Such as fast passes that have no return time, extra hours at night or just something.

Discriminating? I'm talking about rewarding those who are willing or able to pay more. All guests are not equal. If they were then we would all stay in suites on the top floor of the GF. I'm also referring to non-resort guests not the different types of resorts. I believe that I deserve more perks staying onsite than someone who stays in Kissimee (sp).

As a note of interest, we stayed at Disneyland Paris at Christmas and as we were guests at the Disneyland Hotel we were autamatically given 5 fastpass's each at check in which we could use when and where we liked.

However, having been to Universal in April of last year (not staying onsite) I was really peeved by the non availability of passes as they were all used up very quickly, plus most pass queues were backed up with resort guests and those with booklets.

And we are rewarded - we get better accomodations. Otherwise we'd all be staying at All Star Music.

FOTL (front of the line) at IOA/USF when you stay at RPR/HRH/PB allows you to bypass the regular lines - together this represents 2400 rooms altogether (All Stars has 5,760 by comparison)

RPR feels like AKL/WL to me (lower end Deluxe), HRH/PB I mentally equate to Poly/BC/YC type deluxe

Universal also "sells" for $$ express pass booklets that allows you to detach a coupon and go into the express line

They also have a fastpass like reward system for regular ticket holders as well

I think Disney should discriminate via fastpass type system for those forking out the extra $$$ to be onsite - for example the time an onsite guest can get another FP could be much faster than an offsite guest. Having this work for AP holders who are staying onsite would be a bit of a logistical challenge.

Staying at HRH and getting FOTL all day long was a great benefit
