Well, dining is one of the best parts of vacation and we had some great experiences so here goes:

Sat. Lunch: Tusker House, it was good, we had never eaten here before, will probably not go back. We liked Flame tree better.

Sat nite: Whispering Canyon (had PS waited for 30 min!!)
Great place to eat with kids, we all had the skillet, it was wonderful. Will return, absolutely.

Sunday nite: We did counter service in the World Showcase, we will not do this again. I couldn't find anything for the kids. Walled from Mexico all the way to Germany trying for something and we all wound up with hot dogs. My parent's ate in Mexico and I got my dh a 2 open faced sandwiches in Norway. I was terrible. I was miserable. Bad choice on my part.

Monday Lunch: Flame Tree, this was great. Dh had the chicken sandwiches. I had a wonderful chicken salad. The kids meal came with 2 hot dogs perfect for my 2 kiddos. We will return.

Monday nite: Liberty Tree Tavern, wonderful as always. We did dinner for the characters, had a PS and waited less than 5 min. It was great lots of good food. Will return.

Tuesday nite: Garden Grill, we love this place. The characters are great and so is the food. We eat here every trip and it is always great.

Wed. nite: Mama Melrose's, I have always liked this one but it was pretty blah this trip. I like the atmosphere but the food was so-so. We may return but not sure.

Thurs breakfast: Cinderella's royal table. This was awesome as far as character interaction but the food was just ok. Several princesses were there. I don't know if this is new or what but we had: Cinderella, Princess Aurora, Mary Poppins, Belle and Snow White. It was just awesome. Dd was dressed as Princess Aurora and ds as Prince Phillip. It was amazing, my dd was so excited. Will return (if we can  !!

Thurs lunch: Crystal Palace: I was going to cancel since this has had such bad reviews and I am so glad I didn't. This is a great buffet. There were so many salads and meat and the fruit was awesome. My dd was chosen to be the chef of the day and she was so excited. We had a PS and got there about 15 min early. Will return.

Sorry so long!! If anyone had any questions just let me know. We had breakfast in the room. We are dvc so we had a kitchen. And I made a big "vat" of spaghetti and froze it for lunches. It was a wonderful trip.

Welcome back klcason

I enjoyed your reviews, especially the Garden Grill. We are looking forward to trying this on our upcoming trip. Glad to hear you enjoyed the food as well as the characters. :D

Hi and welcome back and thanks for sharing your trip report with us about your dining experiences. I did have a few questions

1. At the whispering canyon did you have a female or male server? I am just curious because we were there in aug and had such a bad experience. We did realize that the night we were there only the female servers seemed to be into the antics, so I just wanted to know your expereince.

2. Can you tell me how your child was chosen to be chef of the day at CP. Were you the first family there? DId you ask them? Did they ask you? What does this entail?

Thanks so much.

Thanks for the reviews! Esp appreciated your review of Tusker House vs. Flame Tree. I want to try both and I think it's going to come down to where we are in the park when it's time to eat. Both sound good to me!

I had practically the exact same World Showcase dinner meltdown on our trip. My DH and I miscommunicated about which country we were going to for dinner- he thought Japan, I thought China- my parents and my mother in law went to China, my husband didn't understand what was going on (I thought he heard we were just going to China) and a big blow up ensued.....just one of those nights where the kids were crabby, I was crabby, it was hot, we were hungry and counter service just didn't cut it. I had to backtrack after dinner and get myself a margarita so I could chill out a bit! I think it's great that there are so many options in Disney, but when you have a large group, and different people want different foods it makes it difficult sometimes to make choices!!!

Thank you for your useful report!! We will be arriving shortly& can't wait to try some of the restaurants you mentioned!!:D :D

luvmarypoppins:

We had a female server she was hilarious. Everyone had a great time. But my dd was mad at PawPaw because he wouldn't do the hokey pokey!!

I am not really sure about the chef of the day thing. We were the 3rd family called in so I really don't know. She is pretty cute though!!!;) if I must say so myself!! They asked us right after we walked in the door. We had an 11:30 PS.

Alice28:

I was so ready for that night to be over   !! My mom brought me a margarita from Mexico and I was very thankful. I will do dinner elsewhere or go back to the room. Live and Learn.

Oh, and Flame Tree was so much better than Tusker to me. Although the turkey wrap my husband had did look really good.

The Garden Grill is one of our favorite spots. We had great character interaction at all of our dinners/breakfasts where they were.

Thanks for the reviews! I was wondering what was served at Garden Grill.
