Hi all!

Just back from our whirlwind tour of the World. Tried a few new things this year. We flew in really late from Minnesota and so arranged to stay at the Hyatt at the Orlando airport. Worked really well, I took the family up to the room and then went down to collect the luggage so the kids didn't have to wait for the luggage when they were tired and cranky. My Mom came with us so we used the senior discount on the room which lowered the cost quite a bit. Saturday morning we got the car and loaded up for Wilderness Lodge. Our 2 bedroom (4557) was ready when we arrived in the morning which was great. Nice view thru the tree tops of the lake. We spent 3 nights at the VWL and used the Dining Plan which was a real money saver (table service at O'hanas, Concourse Steakhouse, and Teppanyaki). After 3 days of desserts twice a day though we were pretty full. Had 10 snack credits left (5 of us) the morning we left for Vero Beach so we loaded up on Roaring Fork brownies, cookies, and boxed cereal for the beach part of our vacation.

Off to the beach! Took about 2 hours - seemed longer with the chorus of "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" eminating from the back seat! This was our first trip to Vero but won't be our last. We had the cottage right behind the pool. The deck overlooking the beach and ocean was magnificant! Counting pelicans is my new beach hobby. A quick trip to the store and we were set for two days of beach and pool. My only negative comment is the tiny little bugs that found my daughter and I irresistable - we're still scratching!

After two days - could have stayed more - we were off to the Beach Club (room 302) for a couple of days at the Food and Wine Festival. We were feeling pretty relaxed by this time and only ventured to Animal Kingdom one morning but spent the rest of the time in the pool, Epcot, and my son's favorite, the Beach Club Arcade he doesn't know that arcades exist outside of Disney World. Two days was not long enough to eat one's way around the World so we'll have to make plans for next year!

The multiple moves weren't awful but I think in the future we will probably do the 5 days at the World and then go to Vero for the last 2 days. Better use of time and it was hard to come back from the relaxation of the beach to park days. Weather was great - hot, as usual, but sure beats the blowing snow of Minnesota!

Glad you had a great time. Next time you head to VB take the "Cutter Advanced". Seems to be the most effective with the no-see-ums (tiny little bugs). :thumbsup2

Glad you had a nice time. Sound like you had many vacations all wrapped up into one! Now you got me daydreamin'. :cloud9:

Thanks for the Cutter's Advance advice. We'll try that for sure next time.

It did seem like three vacations in one which was pretty cool. If I'd stayed more organized with which bag everyone's things were in it would have been a little easier with the moves. By the final move I was just happy to find a tooth brush! :teeth:

Charlotte,

We are doing the same stays next October. BCV first, VWL, then Vero.
I'm flying straight to NYC after so don't want to be bug bitten! Did you notice if they were biting only at dusk or 24/7?

Thanks, Debbie

Hi Debbie,

The bad thing was, we didn't even know we were being bitten! We both had about 10-20 small red bites below our knees but neither of us saw the culprits or felt the bites. They are itchy little buggers though - I would definitely follow the previous posters advice and try the Cutters Advance.

Isn't Vero great? Skin So Soft works on the no see ums too, at least here in S.C.! Glad you had a great time!

Vero really was wonderful - even better than I had anticipated. I was tempted to sleep out under the stars on the cottage deck just to listen to the waves roll in and see the moonlight dance off the water.

Skin so Soft must work for everything! I used it this summer to tame my foal's mane and keep the bugs off him at the same time. His barn name is Soarin' - wonder where that came from :rolleyes1

I love hearing about Vero, 4 weeks from today I will be checking into the Beach Cottage for Thanksgiving!!! :cool1: It will be great! After 2 nights at Vero we head to OKW for 7 nights of fun :Pinkbounc ! I am not sure which one I am more excited about! I am glad you had a great time and I hope the bugs are gone by the time I get there!!!

Hey Debbie,

It is mainly a dusk/dawn thing (like the sharks). :teeth:

Did you just love the beach cottage? We are going to book one for next October - I just love Vero beach! Glad you had a good trip!

Anyone know if the Beach Cottages are available for a cash stay and if so how would I go about booking one?

Thanks in advance.

OP, sounds like a great trip.

You can book the Beach Cottage through DVC for a cash stay. I am paying cash for my last night (Friday).
