Just returned last night from a 2 week stay in Florida. We used ATA for our flights and Dollar for the rental car.
Both ATA flights were fine, security was much more tight at Midway than in Orlando. Our return flight had an equipment change so we ended up on a smaller plane 757-200 instead of 757-300. It didn't effect us much, but others had to do some last minute seat changes due to assigned seats not being on this new plane i.e. no seat 9C, etc. Other than that both flights were fine and pretty much uneventful.
Dollar was ok, for the most part, as well. We had reserved a minivan for 209 per week using the FISH code. We picked up in Ft. Lauderdale and dropped in Orlando, however in order to get the fish code I had to reserve with a Ft. Lauderdale drop as well. Rental agent said that was fine and changed it as I waited there, no problems. She said that they do that all the time, and that there is never a penalty to drop the car at any Florida location. We did have an issue with the size of the van, however. If we wanted the extended length van we had to pay extra for it. It sounds like new Dollar policy. I had read about that here on DIS before I left so I was kind of expecting it. We agreed on 3.50 per day extra, so I took it since we needed the space. Keep this extra charge in mind for future minivan rentals with Dollar.
All in all we had a great trip, but after 2 weeks, it is nice to be home... I might not feel that way on Monday though when I go back to work...
