We just got back from our first ever trip to the Fort! We had soooo much fun!

We went for a 3 night trip...it's our last hurrah before school begins again (DH and I are both teachers with one starting Kindergarten this year).

A summary of what we did:

Day 1:
Arrived by 10:30 AM. Had a super, super nice guy check us in (can't remember his name). He told us the reason they hadn't put us down for Loop 100 is that they still had us down as taking a pet, even though I had called to change that. He said we could have Loop 100 but would have to wait. Loop 600 was available then. We said yes! So we had Site 605. Very nice, very close to the campfire and a decent but manageable walk to the Marina.
We parked, set up, and walked around. We took the ferry to the Wilderness Lodge to look around, then to the Contemporary to ride the monorail. Came back to the Fort, had a snack (we had a large late breakfast that day), took naps, barbecued some steaks. I then had some friends come to visit us for a couple hours and we headed over to the campfire program which was awesome!! I wish I had another day for that as I was busy talking to my friend most of the time when I would have loved to be singing along, etc.
We ended the night with the Electrical Water Pageant and fireworks. This was Sunday and the beach was very packed. Luckily, we had chairs. The music was piped in by the marina and it was wonderful.

Day 2:
Downtown Disney in the morning, Earl of Sandwich for lunch.
Naps.
Pool time. Very nice. I knew it would be basic, but it was still a pretty large pool and I was happy.
Barbecue dinner. Yum.
Walk to the Post for ice cream, sit in rocking chairs, walk around.
Bed early.

Day 3:
Magic Kingdom day. We took the boat to the Contemp and walked to the Magic Kingdom. I wanted to get there by 8 for the opening of EMH and we did. I think we exhausted our poor kids. We did lots of rides, won dream Fastpasses :cloud9: , and left by 12.
Fort for lunch in the RV. Naps. This was the first day that both kids really slept. Relaxed til about 5.
Back to MK until close to 10. Didn't need to see Wishes as one of our kids is very noise-sensitive and we were happy enough watching it from the beach Sunday night.

Day 4:
Left by 9 AM :(

I'm going to try to upload the pics soon!

We're hooked!

We want to come back soon in the cool season and just do the Fort. So many things I feel we missed.

Thanks to everyone for all the great tips and advice! I was a walking Disboards while there, much to DH's annoyance (but I think I was handy).

We had the most ancient looking RV there if anyone saw us. :scared: Sorry if anyone was next to our beast! ;)

Sounds like you guys had a good time. Welcome back. Can't wait to see pictures.

So glad to hear you guys had a great time! Also glad to hear you're hooked! ;)

We were at MK on Saturday for opening and then again Sunday mid morning! We took an impromtu down and stayed at POR. We sure did miss FW!!! Can't wait to go back in September!!!:thumbsup2

Wow what a good time, you sound like me, whenever we left for disney I really thought we were rocking a beautiful tt and whenever we were in line at checkin, I felt rather like a hillbilly...alittle ashamed..

:lmao: That's me! I was feeling fine until we parked next to this huge, new, beautiful Class A!

Oh my, I never thought about being next to those new Class A's...lol. We are borrowing my FIL's old old old camper (don't even know what you call it)lol. But, its getting us to the World so I shouldn't let it bother me, but I know when we get there I will be embarrassed, oh well.

Hmmmm, I wonder if I can request the "ancient" camper loop??? :rotfl2:

We were stuck in the middle of two huge buses whenever we were there and we looked out our little camper window all sad...heehee

Our neighbors on both sides were so nice though, really helped us getting our golf cart off, brought over some blocks for us to use. Loved it .

Jus refer to the "old, old, old camper as a "Classic" and you increase the novelty and value. See, everythings great!

Here are some pics...sorry they are a little small! I'm new at all these things.

The view from behind our site. It was beautiful.

Chip, not to be confused with Dale!

Us at the campfire.

My youngest and I hanging out at Wilderness Lodge

DH and our oldest on the boat to WL

Our "classic" RV when we first arrived.

Your camper may be a few years old, but it looks to be in great shape! I remember when you were talking about going to look at it. If I remember right it had low miles. Anyway, the main thing it is supposed to do is keep the rain off your head, and the wind off your your backside. It is does that, your in good shape!:thumbsup2

I was thinking the same thing! It may be "classic" as you called it...but it seems to be in excellent condition! Glad you had a good time!

"Classic" "Vintage" I like that. I feel better now, as I said in an earlier post, I'm going to Disney World so I shouldn't let it bother me.

I'm secretively hoping DH will like it so much he will suggest going to get one of our own and we can go more often.....I, of course, will have to think about a purchase that big and then say I suppose. When all along I am planning this anyways :woohoo: I just have to play my cards right. hee hee.

Hey Ness what area were you in? Your camper looks about the same size as my FIL's and I'm not sure what type of site to get. I know we don't need those great big ones but I'm curious.

What a beautiful family and by the way I love your RV very very nice ! Looks like you had a great time, makes me want to be there.

Nice pictures - nice looking family which begs the question, why are you posting here? :lmao:

Thanks everyone! Glad you liked us and our classic RV :). I love this forum- I feel like we fit right in!

We were in loop 600. Good location!

Just remind yourself when you park by one of these Class A monsters that ...

1. Some people have more dollars than sense.
2. Just because they have a big shiny rig doesn't mean they know what they are doing (probably the opposite)!
3. You could stay at the Fort another week for what they paid for gas to get that thing there!
