I just returned from a very successful overnight trip with the hubby!
We stayed at the Tropicana Inn. I had stayed there once before a couple of years ago but had been looking elsewhere lately because I had read a few reports on these boards that their parking policy had changed and that guests were now being charged per DAY, not per night (in other words, an overnight stay would charge for two days worth of parking). Since this was a last-minute trip, there weren't many other options, but I'm happy to report that I was not charged as I had read about previously. I arrived early yesterday morning (10:00 AM) even though check-in was not until 4:00 PM. I was told that my parking pass was good until 2:00 PM the NEXT day and that if I wanted to stay past 2:00, just tell the front desk and then they could charge me for another day but I wouldn't have to move the car. Parking was $9 a night. The location is so incredibly close that I'll definitely keep this place on my short list.
Another question we see here a lot is about the Military Salute tickets. We purchased them at the gates on the last day that the $99 3-day hopper price was in effect. The CM that sold them to me asked which I would prefer, as the $125 3-day hoppers are good through Oct. 2013. I told her just the $99 ones since we were only using them this weekend. She also confirmed what we have been saying on these boards, which is that if you bought the $99 tickets this year, you are still eligible to buy 6 more $125 tickets now. She did, however, say that the new $125 tickets are DIFFERENT than the $99 tickets in that the military member will have to be present ALL THREE DAYS for the tickets to be valid, not just when they are activated. The names are printed on the tickets.
It was my first time seeing Buena Vista St. and it's just so "happy", for lack of a better word! I really liked it.
This was also my first time to Carsland and I LOVE it! Their attention to detail is amazing. The Junkyard Jamboree ride was a walk-on, so DH and I rode it twice in a row. I will point out that while this ride seems perfectly innocent for most little kids and families, the ride takes on an extra thrill element when it is myself and my 6'5", 250 pound husband in the car. I couldn't stop laughing but also could have easily broken ribs lol! Also DEFINITELY utilize the Single Rider Line for RSR!!! When we were there, Friday around 4:00 PM, the standby line was 70 minutes. There was no time listed on the Single Rider clock and I was afraid it wasn't open, but when I asked the CM, he said the SRL wait time was only 15 minutes, and he was RIGHT! The SRL moves QUICKLY! They put at least 4 SR's through with each cycle. It was great!
Oh, and LAST but certainly not least, this visit included a very surprise dinner at Club 33! I found out (on my birthday coincidentally enough) that someone out there was smiling upon me and I got an offer to go for dinner, an offer which I certainly could not refuse! I'm going to post the food pictures in the food review thread right now!!! I'm still in shock to be honest! Here's a teaser:
