and it was a wonderful stay! I had some hesitations after reading some of the threads with our choice at POFQ (we had never stayed there) but we were thrilled with it!

We found the food in the food court to be quite good both at the French Quarter and at Riverside. I didn't see any of the rudeness that others have mentioned in the food court, etc. All of our food was really good, too.

Our room was spotless. The pool was crowded, but the lifeguards were good and the slide was a hit with my son.

We had a bunch of questions about some old "plus" hopper tickets we had left over from 2002 and the staff graciously answered every question we had about them -- and that was several different times.

We were thrilled so if anyone else has any hesitation after reading some of the recent threads...... we were very happy!

I was very impressed with PO:FQ. LOVED it. I wasn't fond of the busses running from POFQ to Riverside and it was PACKED but otherwise ... haha. The staff were super nice. My only gripe was that on my checkout date, I was planning to sleep in (I was at the MK until 1am the night before) and at 8:30am housekeeping was POUNDING on the door. It was horrible!

Thanks for your positive reviews of POFQ. We've been a little nervous after reading some of the recent threads concerning this resort. It will be our first time there as well and we've always wanted to stay there.

DisneyFreaks, You can tell from my number of posts, I don't come to this forum much --- except when we are planning a disney trip. I booked the POFQ before I read some of the negative posts based on past reviews and I thought.... uh-oh...

But, it could not have been any more perfect. The food was really good and everything was clean. I was impressed and can't wait to go back.

We also asked for a 1 pm checkout at no charge and they said "no problem". I had read that tip in one of the Disney guide books. So, we were able to stay Typhoon Lagoon until 12 yesterday and then come back and get a quick shower before leaving at 1. They were just wonderful and the staff was very nice about everything. I didn't see anything that I had read about as far as a negative, but I know everyone has bad days, including Disney. We had a great trip and I hope you do, too!

We will be staying at POFQ from 8/21-8/27 for our second time - we were there last Aug. during Free Dining and loved the resort! We also didn't encounter rude CM's during our stay. One night we needed Mousekeeping and they were at our door in minutes with clean bed linens. We loved the small size of the resort and having everything within a short walking distance. The kids loved the pool and the arcade. We thought the food court was pretty good and seemed able to handle the number of guests staying there. It's beautiful at night to stroll around the resort - you feel like you are walking around a quaint Southern town. The boat to DTD was great! All in all it was a very positive experience for us - we didn't hesitate to book it for our trip this year.:woohoo:

did any of you eat at boatwrights ...??

wondering if a reservation is needed if you are staying onsite and just want to walk over and make a reservation for the same day !!

sandalwood -- What building were you in, and can you give any advice regarding preferred room locations? Thanks!

Boatwrights is very popular and a reservation is almost always needed. Have seen folks upset when they were turned away becasue they assumed (not unreasonable) as Resort guest they would be able to walk up and be seated.

It's just a very popular place :) Definitely call ahead - might be able to call the day before - depends on how full the resort is - we made one for any morning we thought we might want to eat there and then called the day before to cancel if we made other plans once at the resort.

Have fun!:flower3:

Stop all of the positive reviews or the secret will get out! ;)
We liked it so much last fall that we are planning to stay there this September too.

Amen! Shhhhhhh... don't let it out! As you can see by my signature, this is really the only resort we'll stay at. I'll be there in 10 days and can't wait. My girls love the slide and the kiddie pool, and also the walk over to Riverside. Oh.. and don't forget the boat to downtown disney.

Glad you had a good time at POFQ. Its our favorite mod :thumbsup2

Thanks!! We'll be there in a couple weeks and cannot wait!! I'll admit, I was nervous about all of the neg reviews. But, I have to remember, people always like to complain about something, it's rare that we compliment something.... :rolleyes1

Thanks so much for the review. We have stayed there 4-5 times now, but it has been 2 years (we were at CBR last year!) But, we are going back in September! I was concerned about all the bad comments I have read! So, I sure welcomed yours!

My hubby and I have never had a bad experience there and have stayed many times.

We were in building 5 on the bottom floor facing the spa (almost directly) and the pool was right behind it. We had a little courtyard in front of our window and it was a standard view room. We liked being close to the pool. 5 was close to the pool, the boat dock and the food court.

I had faxed a request to them 2 days before check in to please make sure that we had a true non smoking room due to allergies. Even though it is all smoke free now in the rooms, I had read where some of the rooms that were smoking still smelled? I have no idea if that is true or not. Anyhow, they mentioned our fax at check in and made sure we got a room that was non-smoking prior to the change in smoking policy. We could not have been any happier with our room.

But, to halfway answer your question.. I still have a 2007 Disney guidebook here from the library and it says;

"Following are the best river-view rooms in each building:

Building 1: rooms 1127 to 1132, 1227 to 1232, 1327 to 1332
Building 2: 2127 to 2132, 2227 to 2232, 2327 to 2332
Building 5: 5117 to 5122, 5217 to 5222, 5317 to 5322
Building 6: 6123 to 6126, 6223 to 6226, 6323 to 6326, 6133 to 6140, 6233 to 6240, 6333 to 6340, 6141 to 6148, 6241 to 6248, 6341 to 6348
Building 7: 7141 to 7148, 7241 to 7248, 7341 to 7348"

Hope it's ok to post that. We didn't care about a river view since we live on the coast, but it might be important to others.

:)

We did not eat there, but when we passed by it Mon. night, seats were available. However, the hotel strongly suggested reservations so it must stay busy all the time.

Did you try out the spa?? Someone on the POFQ thread wanted to know if it was still there.

Disney, just like life, is full of unexpectations. One person experience may not be someone else's. My guess is there are far more people who never read anything here and have a wonderful time and we never hear about it.
