Flew from MHT to MCO $115.20 round trip.

Purchased ticket for 3yr old, not for 15mo. We checked DD3's car seat, and carried DD15mo's car seat to terminal to "gate check".

I asked if the flight was full, they said no. I then asked if I could bring the car seat on for the baby. They said NO PROBLEM, go ahead.

So that was great, it was much easier having the baby in the carseat, she was able to sleep and we could relax a bit more!

We gate checked the double stroller, very easy.

Got to pre-board, my IL's had an A pass going out a B pass coming home. Both flights they still got seats with us (I guess no one wanted a seat in a row with a small child... :)

Karen,

When did you purchase your SW tix? I am flying out of MHT too in February. The SW schedule is currently open until 1/14. I have checked Travelocity and Cheap Tickets. The best I can find is $191 R/T x 4 tix on Delta. Do you think it is worth waiting to check the price for SW when the schedule opens up? Was SW a non-stop flight? Thanks.

Kim,

SW was a non-stop flight, both ways. I purchased the tickets at $175 (flying on Sundays). A month or so later they had a fare sale, and there were tickets available for the $115 rate. I just changed the reservations and now have $60 credit (per ticket) with Southwest for a future flight.

I used to be very loyal to US AIR from MHT to MCO, but in the past 3 years I have yet to get a better deal from anyone other than Southwest. My rule is $200 - I would not pay anything more than that for my round trip, non stop to Orlando.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Karen. Guess I will be waiting patiently with everyone else to see when SWA comes out with a schedule beyond January! Just hope the kids and I can get seats together because DH is not going this time and it will be just me and the kids going (although DS's are old enough to sit alone if need be 10 & 12) but don't think DD7 would be thrilled not sitting with me. Unassigned seats are the only thing I am not crazy about as far as SWA goes.

Unassigned seats was one of my concerns when we first flew Southwest too. I have never had a problem with seating and the attendants will ask someone to move. Most people have no problem changing seats to accomodate a family! Our last trip when we came on the plane a Southwest employee had told the attendants we were a family of 5 so they saved a row for us near the back. We don't preboard anymore because our youngest is 6 and we have never had a problem!

Wish I could say the same about SW. Last time we went to Florida there were 11 of us total. On the way back my DH sat alone, my two boys sat with each other, my mom sat alone, and DD and I sat together. My friend was also with us. She sat with one DD5 and her older DD14 sat with DD6. We were scattered all over the plane. No one offered to move and they seemed aggravated when we asked. We didn't all expect to sit together, just wanted the kids with us. Plus I had the snacks and no one could reach them! Maybe this time since there are only four of us we can get seats together. On the way to Florida we snagged A boarding passes somehow (I guess because friend's DD was 5). Anway we all sat in the back together until a father and son got on and there were no two seats together. He didn't ask but we gladly offered to give up one of our seats and move around so they could sit together. The people on the way home from Florida just seemed very cranky in general. There was a lady in line in front of us making snide comments about us being in the wrong line. Maybe their pixie dust was all gone ;) Anyway maybe this time will be better and it was a one-time freak thing.

I am still with you on this. I hate no seat assignments with kids. I heard that we should check after 10PM Wens. for the fare after Jan 14th.
