Just a reminder about our cast of characters...
Me, 29 - loves to eat
DH, 30 - eats anything in sight
DS, 7 - same as DH
DD, 6 - our picky eater
Grandma, 55 and Grandpa, 54
Dec 8 - Breakfast in the room and then we headed to AK. Had lunch at Flame Tree Barbecue. You really get a lot of food for what you pay for. I ordered the half chicken, DH had ribs, DD had peanut butter sandwich, which I loved because she only likes peanut butter and not jelly, DS had 2 hot dogs. Can't remember what G&G had. The food is more smoked and marinated than covered with BBQ sauce. We walked down and sat right on the river with a great view - nice and quiet. The only complaint was that the beans were full of onions and green peppers and just tasted weird. Personal quirks. 9/10
Dinner - Liberty Tree Tavern for MVMCP. Had never eaten here before and am so glad we tried it. It was fun to hear them announce, "Now seating, from Minnesota, the Albright Family!!" We were seated in the Washington Room. It had lots of antique-ish things on the walls and a cool fireplace. We were seated, drink orders taken, and bread and butter brought out. Goofy was the first to come in and he was totally in character, fooling with the kids. Chip and Dale also made appearances in holiday aprons and Minnie came by in her colonial wear. Dinner consisted of roasted turkey (divine!), pork slices with a sweet and sour sauce (a little dry) and marinated flank steak (yum). We also had stuffing, mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. I forgot the salad - that strawberry vinigriette was soooooo good!! We also got dessert - kids got ice cream,we got Boston Cream Pie. Yum!! 9/10
Dec 9 - This was a rainy day. We walked over to Kona Cafe for breakfast. I totally agree with everyone that this is the best place to eat - good food, good prices. I had their Big Kahuna Breakfast - pancakes, french toast, sausage, bacon and homestyle potatoes I think it was like $7.89. Everyone else loved their food as well and left feeling full. And boy did we have fast service. 10/10
Lunch - we were at MGM and decided to eat and Hollywood and Vine for lunch instead of dinner. It was so rainy we left the park immediately after lunch. This was a good meal because we all got dry and a little warmer. Kids ate great here - hot dogs, meatballs, fries. I really liked the citrus chicken. DH loved the lo mein as did G&G. People give this place a bad rap and I don't agree. It's no V&A's, no real gourmet food, but it's good, warm and everyone finds something to eat. The characters were great. Matter of fact the place was only about 1/4 full - I thought everyone else would do as we did and get in there to eat, but the park must have been emptier than I thought. Minnie even came to our table, which she hadn't done previous visits. 9/10
Dinner was just at McDonald's at the Crossroads tonight. We were too pooped out to find somewhere else to go outside the Polynesina - looking back, we should have went back to Kona.
