Just back: Report on RFID and My Disney Experience

I use "MouseWait" on my DroidX....it is free and I found it very accurate It has wait times, restaurant menus, a list of discounts for passholders, character finder, even a forum if you're wanting to chat with other Disneyfans.

As far as I could tell, MOST of the lines are RFID. I was there in May, and for example, there were only two turnstyles at DHS for the paper tickets. The rest were RFID. They were clearly marked, and the only person I ever saw getting in the wrong line was ME! As I previously posted, they did NOT make me move from a paper line to an RFID line. They scanned my RFID card and it took seconds.

Wow rfc0001....what a hassle for you, I feel bad that you had to deal with all that. It makes no sense why they would shut down the paper ticket entrance when they are still open! And your point about leaving your $500 ticket in the machine to go get assistance, that is scary and I hadn't thought about that! I hope the rest of your trip wad magical and hassle free, but the points you raise are things that I hope Disney is paying attention to. I love technology, when it works and makes our lives easier and more efficient. I am disillusioned that a company that is providing entertainment services and is known for excellent customer service, is introducing systems that are clearly not ready to be implemented and causing their customers so much dissatisfaction. I hope the all mighty dollar isn't tarnishing the quality company and vision Walt and Roy created. My jury on all this tech will remain out, I am working hard to remain cautiously optimistic.:-)

Quick update regarding my previous post. I just noticed MDE > My Reservations page now has a section for Tickets and Passes, and allows to you add old paper tickets. This ostensibly is the solution to the problem I pointed out about paper tickets not sold through Disney not being registered. I highly recommend anyone entering with paper tickets to register them to your account, which will allow Disney to validate you are the authorized user when the paper ticket lines are down and/or when you go through the manual validation when entering a RFID line. This way they can simply ask for you ID and check that it matches your online registration information associated with your tickets and you can avoid a trip to Guest Services. I'm glad to see they came up with a workaround, although not sure how many people with paper tickets even know about this. Luckily I'm now a DVC member so can get a discounted AP so no more paper ticket shenanigans for me :) Just thought I'd add this tidbit since I think it is good information to know (also helps if you lose your ticket).

Does this also work for offsite guests who have old paper tickets? I am still not clear on how much of this MDE pre-registration stuff is limited to resort guests only.
