We just returned on Friday night and I am so ready to plan next year's trip! We loved the weather and crowd levels last week so I'm thinking of shooting for that same week next year. I think my DH is going to think I'm crazy when I tell him I'm ready to plan the next trip already :rotfl:

We brought our 8 month old DD and had some extended family with us as well. As much as it was nice to have other family along, I realized that I'm an immediate family only traveler. I love planning travel details (flights, hotels, a couple of meals) but we are usually very spontaneous in the parks. Having everyone look to me for what ride or attraction to see next was just not what I had in mind and unfortunately, added stress to our visit. There were very few times where it was just DH, DD and me, but those times were great fun and very stress-free. I think that's why I'm so excited to plan the next trip - so that it can be just the 3 of us without all of the worry and stress from traveling with other people.

So.....on to planning the next trip! :wizard:

understand like my solo trips - so your solo family trips are definitely understandable.

I know where you are coming from. A few years back I went with my mother, sister, neice, my son his girlfriend and my daughter. By the time the week was over I needed a quiet spot to retreat to. We had gone the end of June and by the time I got back I was already planning a week by myself for that December.

I so understand! We just got back in October and I made reservations last week for May at BCV. I need to always have something on my countdown to look forward to. :goodvibes

Interested in knowing more about solo trips. I think about it, but don't think I'd enjoy it?? Not having anyone to talk to or ride with or laugh, don't know if I would like it. What's the draw? How do you like going all alone?

We just got back 2 weeks ago and have another trip planned for June 2009 with my brother's family. We had so much fun this last trip I'm already trying to work in another one with just the 4 of us before the June trip. I don't think I can wait 8 months to go again.

We did a family trip with my sister's family this past June and it was fun, but as with any big family gathering there are always concessions to keep everyone happy.

We are going in Dec. (see ticker) and have DH's 40th b-day trip planned for June to July 2009 and he is trying to squeeze a trip in between these two because he doesn't think he can last 6 months w/out going!! LOL!! I told him that he is out of control!

We are bringing my mom and stepdad with us this coming trip, my wife and I realize that there will be some give and take when you add outside the immediate family. So far they have agreed that the kids are in charge of where we go, and what we do. We are all looking forward to sharing the magic of Disney together.

We knew there would be give and take as well, but it turned out to be us always giving them direction and making the decisions as to where to eat, where to go next, what to see and do...and that's just not a relaxing way to vacation. They had all been to WDW several times before and said ahead of time that they would be doing their own thing and going their own way. That didn't happen once we were there though and it caused a lot of stress. So bring on the immediate family only vacations...

I can totally relate! We got back 2 days ago and I was planning the next trip even before then. The Food and Wine Festival was so much fun!
