We're just back from 9 nights at WDW. We have only been during the off-season before, so I was worried that I would have problems with the crowds, and heat. It was another wonderful trip.

WEATHER: Yes it was hot and humid, but not as oppressive as I expected. Take your fans, water, etc. and take breaks in the AC. The thunderstorms rolled in around 4-5--some were very heavy, and didn't disappear as quickly as expected. Sun and Mon evening rained most of the night.

CROWDS: Obviously, they were heavier than in the off-season, but with planning, EMH and e-nights and fastpasses, you can see it all. My family chose to do this trip laid-back and relaxed, so we didn't see any of the evening shows, and focused on seeing the live acts and the lesser known attractions.

LOST TICKETS: I had purchased my park hopper pluses and annual passes in December, and put them in my safe deposit box. The day before we left, I realized I didn't have my keys to the box, and it was too late to get someone to drill the box open. Thankfully, I had made copies of the vouchers, so guest services at MK replaced them quickly and with great friendliness. Then, do to some confusion at DisneyQuest (long story) I lost the park hoppers. I went back to MK with the receipt, and they replaced them, again with no problems.

MILLIONAIRE/PLAY IT: We enjoyed playing this game, and all three of us ended up in the top ten at least once. I was number 1 and DH was number 2 at the end of the game. There was a 5th grader in the hot seat for one of the games--she had been in the hot seat at least 8 times during the week.

CAST MEMBERS: We did see a few people who didn't enjoy their job, but for every one of those, there were ten others who went out of their way to be friendly. We had a bus driver who stopped to help a turtle across the road, a monorail attendant who was so nice, great wait staff. I didn't see any signs of cutbacks.

THE MAGIC: I was so afraid that the heat, cutbacks, crowds etc. would hurt the magic. I also had an additional burden on my heart: Just before we left, I found out my 46 year old brother has pancreatic cancer. For a few days, I was able with my family to have hopes and wishes. As I stood there last night watching WISHES, with tears streaming down my face, I had and continue to have hope. The magic is still very much alive!!

Thank you so much for the great report and the helpful tips. It was good to hear that you were able to get your hoppers replaced so easily; what a relief that must have been!

I am so sorry about your brother's diagnosis. :(

Thanks again!

Good Morning,

Sometimes I read the boards and people focus on the negative. I t was so nice to hear you find the Magic everywhere you went in WDW!!!
We cannot wait to go back and find all that magic also.

My prayers are with you and your family. My Dad had pancreatic cancer also and it can be a long tiring journey, but remember to keep finding the joy in life and have faith that your brothers journey can be made easier with a family's love.

So sorry to hear about your brother. I have tears in my eyes that even with this weight of sadness you were able to find the Magic in Disney - that is so inspiring!

Thank you for posting your reports - we are too going in the heat and crowds after being used to mild weather and lower crowds. You have helped proof that the experience you have is due in large part to the attitude you have!

I love that bus driver story also!

Thanks for sharing with us. My prayers are with you and your family.

I totally agree with you on the cast members! We were there at the same time and I lost track of how many times I said "That cast member has got to be hot". How could they stand to be in their character outfits when it was so hot! They make you feel like you're their first customers. At UO we were in line for a ride 15 minutes before closing and the employees kept leaving the loading area to see how long the line was and then complaining to each other on how they needed to close the line BEFORE closing. Can you imagine Disney doing that? At HM we asked the castmember at the front gate where to find the "wedding ring" and he actually walked us to it instead of telling us where to find it!

Thanks for your inspiring report. I think the world would be a lot happier place if people would focus on the positives around them, as you have done. Your brother is very lucky to have the support and love of a sister like you, and my thoughts and prayers are with your entire family.

Disney truly is a magical place. :sunny:

DW and I will say a prayer for your family and brother.Magic things happen in this world daily. That's what we are hoping for your brother.

I'm glad you were able to enjoy the magic. I'm so sorry about your brother, I've been there and it is very difficult. In 2002 we went to WDW just a week after learning that my gramma (the most wonderful woman I've ever known) was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer. It helped to be in such a magical place for awhile.

Miracles happen every day.

Lori

PS: When we were at WDW in 2003, I got in the Hot Seat at WWTBAM, but because I won prizes (the pin set and a hat) I had to sign papers that said I was not able to get in the Hot Seat again for 30 days. Either they changed that, or the little girl must not have gotten to the point of winning any prizes.
