First want to say that we did not have a bad meal anywhere, including the food court at ASMu. I think that people need to keep perspective with respect to each location, i.e., dont expect California Grill from a food court and you wont be disappointed.
So about that food court.. lots of choices, ate there a few times, late dinner and for breakfast. Food always hot/fresh. And while the food court could be slightly chaotic at peak dining times, but we never stood in line too long and always found a seat, even with our large party of 8. Things we tried: burgers, pizza, mickey waffles, chicken alfredo (a big favorite with everyone), pastries, muffins.
50s Prime Time (lunch): We were seated pretty quickly upon checking in, even though we were a few minutes late. So much fun, big portions. Ill say the food was good, not necessarily great. Things we tried: pot roast, friend chicken, meatloaf, fish sandwich. Everyone was full and satisfied when we left. Everyone we encountered was in character and our server was great. Not everyone ordered desserts (too full) but we did try the cobbler and the smores. Both very good.
Sci-Fi (dinner): VERY long wait past our ADR we arrived about 10 minutes early and waited another 35 minutes to be seated. Ugh. Once seated, service was good. The food was fine (I feel like they need more choices, though). The kids enjoyed the atmosphere. Things we tried: butcher steak, tofu plate, Reuben sandwich, chicken sandwich. Kids meals are all pretty standard, but they had pizza and were happy with it. Desserts here earned high marks the cheesecake with red velvet cake was good and so was the chocolate peanut butter cake.
Crystal Palace (breakfast): very good, fresh and hot, lots of choices for everyone. Coffee and OJ refills were plentiful and service was very good. Took us about an hour or so to see all characters. At one point, Piglet was the last character we were waiting for and the music started for the parade.. Piglet immediately took a break after the dancing and the kids were in tears. Luckily, he came right back to where he left off after his break. All in all, a rather long breakfast but fun! And since we were still beyond thrilled about having been asked to ride in the afternoon parade as Grand Marshalls, we didnt mind a longer breakfast!
Columbia Harbor House (lunch): It was quiet and practically empty upstairs. And by then, we were all tired and hot (post-parade and that car was HOT). I think everyone had shrimp or fish except the kids, who all had chicken nuggets. We dont love the chocolate cake desserts at most counter service place, but the apple crisp was a little better. It was really just a nice, cool, quiet place to sneak away for awhile.
Typhoon Lagoon counter service (cant remember which one) lunch: Had chicken Caesar salad and for a prepackaged salad, it was fine. Followed that up with ice cream yummy. This particular place had NO choices for vegetarians so my sister in law got a turkey sandwich and removed the meat it was just easier for us not to keep walking around with hungry/tired kids looking for another place so she chose to make the best of it.
Ohana (dinner): So great. We were seated pretty quickly and the service was spectacular. Our drinks were constantly refilled. The chef was very accommodating (my nephew has allergies) and made a special vegetarian entrée for my sister in law (she LOVED it) and the food was really good it just kept coming and coming. We were all sooooo stuffed! My personal favorites were the potstickers and the noodles. I didnt love the wings, but others did. We all thought the chicken was fantastic. The pork was dry. The beef was just okay, too well done for our liking and the shrimp was good, but by the time it came around, we were all so full. The dessert was the favorite of the trip for kids and adults! Oh, and it was my first GOOD cup of coffee. To make this meal all the better, we could see Wishes from our table just in time for coffee and dessert YAY!!
Coral Reef (lunch): EXCELLENT. We loved our experience here. Our seat was fabulous, a big round booth facing the fish tank. Our service was excellent. The food was fabulous. Things we tried: steak, mahi mahi, chicken. Kids had meaty macaroni. The kids had cute fruit smoothies while the adults ordered cocktails. The desserts were beautiful and delicious (I personally didnt care for the sauce on the cheesecake, but I liked my key lime dessert we also tried the passion fruit crème brule.)
Tusker House (breakfast): Fantastic food, lots of choices. Great service and since we were Table 1 at the first seating of the morning, we were finished seeing characters within 15 minutes of arriving. The kids participated in a little dance/parade around the dining room and we were out of there and on rides by about 10 after 9 in the morning.
Tangerine Café (lunch): So yummy. Platters were huge and we really enjoyed the food kids meals are lacking (chicken nuggets and potato chips) but the kids didnt seem to mind.
Wolfgang Puck Express (lunch): Very good fresh! Loved that you ordered and had food delivered to your table. Easily the best quick service option on property my husband and I shared a pizza and beet salad. We took cookies and brownies as dessert and saved them for later.
1900 Park Fair (dinner): EXCELLENT. The buffet is fantastic.. so many options. SUSHI on the buffet.. was excellent. Best selection on a kids buffet and the character interaction was great so much fun! Our service was spectacular, too! We had ordered a specialty cake to be delivered for my nephews bday and the girls were dressed as princesses straight from their BBB appointments so it made our last meal in Disney very special!
Overall, a most excellent dining experience in Disney!!
Let me know if you have any questions!
