Overall, loved this resort. Found it to be very clean and beautiful landscaping. Kids loved the pool and the food court.

We were in the mansions 8217-8218 connecting rooms in Acadian House facing the parking lot. Was a good location for us because we drove.

North Depot bus stop was great. My number one bus tip is: Do not go to the crowded South depot main bus stop in the AM. It stops there last and you will usually have to stand. It seemed to stop first at West then North then East then South last then to the parks. We never waited long for a bus. On the way back from the parks it stopped at South first. We usually waited for the North depot unless we wanted something from the food court or store on the way back.

Pools were great. Kids loved Old Man Island but they also loved the quiet pool that we used between Acadian house and Magnolia Terrace. We did laundry there one night while kids swam.

Housekeeping was efficient but no towel animals. They seemed very busy. Coffeepot, iron delivered promptly to room.

Food court was most crowded 8 am to 9 am but still manageable.
Boatwrights breakfast gave you more for your money and was prompt and delicious. (Omelets were great)

Make sure you see Bob Jackson in RiverRoost lounge Wed thru Sat. Kids LOVED him. He had them up and marching and dancing. Kids could take refillable mugs in there with them after filling them at the food court.

I am working on my trip reports now. I will try to post link, but if I am not able just look for firstmickey trip reports.

Thanks for your info! We are headed to POR in April!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

Glad you enjoyed your stay. It's our favorite but will always be DXL to us.

I have booked a stay to the P.O.Riverside in May 2004 and am a little concerned with regards to the differing information I have read in respect of the refurbishment. Some say French Quarters to be closed until April 2004 then refurb to commence on the Riverside in phases, others say 2 years on the French Quarters side. If refurbishment starts on the side we plan to stay I am worried about stopping in a room next door to lots of work. I am considering changing my holiday to a different hotel or is the POR good enough to risk taking a chance? I have also read that 60% of the staff have been laid off whilst the work is being done, has this cut in staff made a difference to the service provided?

I,too,am interested in this topic. I want to book 2 nights in the AB section for next June, but not if it is all disrupted. Does anyone know the scoop?
Thanks!
