We just got back from 11 nights at POR. It was amazing!
We were in room 1440 building 14 corner room, second floor. The convenience of this building makes it so much better than the others. The winding Bayous were beautiful. I much preferred the landscaping of the AB section to the Mansion section.

POR is absolutely stunning. Slide and fountains are great fun. We loved the buildings, wildlife, river and theming. The pool was spectacular - as much fun as a water park.

The room was very spacious - big enough for 5. It was immaculately clean, and was not really in need of renovation at all.:D

The food court was very good - especially the bakery.
Everything was running as normal, inc. boats to DD and horse and carriage rides. There were no signs of cutbacks, closures or construction. The resort was extremely busy, as was the parks.

We are going back to POR in September - cant wait!.:)

We are going the beginning of June & it will be our 1st time at POR. I'm glad to hear about the condition of the resort & it's surroundings. Sometimes you can read to much from these boards that it starts to make you nervous about the your stay (re: renovations). It was starting to make me want to change resorts, but after your post I'm staying.
We requested building #27 & a corner room, 24 days & counting can't wait!!!!.

Hi: Glad you had a nice stay, ll nights is a nice length of time to be at wdw.

Were the beds comfortable, I understand it is all going to be renovated in the next two years.

Sounds like a fun trip! I am considering POR vs. a value resort to split w/a deluxe for our next trip. We have been to POFQ & thought it was nice & I was curious about POR.

Thanks for the report!:p

I'm so glad to hear about POR. We requested building 14 and from the sounds of your post I hope we get it!

The beds were fine, though softer than ours at home. Also we are used to sleeping in a king size bed. The kids loved the wooden bed posts and mirrors. Bathrooms were spotlessly clean.
I liked the curtains which had map prints of the world in a gold, teal and terracotta color, with Disney characters in exploration clothing printed on. Carpets were a gold/ rust sort of dappled color. Only signs of wear showed in corners where carpets met skirting boards. The armoire was beautiful, in stained pine wood, and very spacious and practical. We wanted to take it home. Having two sinks was handy.
Mousekeeping did a great job and the kids stuffed animals would be waiting at the window for us to arrive home each day. There were pretty fan shaped made out of the facecloths.
I fell totally in love with this resort. It was beautiful walking to the cotton mill each morning, feeding the ducks and watching the mill go round. The smell of the wet timber decks and honeysuckle was gorgeous.:D

Forgot to mention - we had a minivan, but used Disney buses numerous times. Service was very efficient - no long waits. We will not be hiring a car on our next trip.

We always manage to make it over to port orleans for a meal , in the cottonmill if we are staying at a different resort. I just love it there and your description is right on the money.

Thanks for the info...going there for the first time in a few weeks, and planning to request building 14. Sounds like a great place!

This is great information!! We will be at POR in 35 days-can't wait. I'm so happy to hear that everything is up and running. Thanks so much for posting.
