Just got back less than hr ago. I live in S.Fla and it was extremely hot at parks. I got sick, pretty sure dehydration. Still love the parks and the summer crowds are one thing but the heat w/ exteme humidity can be dangerous, especially for anyone not feeling 100%. We altered our game plan and I missed out on a few things but still love Disney. Thanks to all for helpful suggestions. I just wanted to say drink lots of water and one of those water spray/fan bottles is very helpful($17 at parks or bring one from home). Good luck to all. :drinking: :drinking: :drinking:

Sorry you didn't have the 'best' trip. I know what you mean about the humidity...it'll kill you if you don't watch out. So, those of you going down in the next month or two...biggest piece of advice you can get...

drink, drink, drink, and then...drink some more. If you aren't in the 'potty' every other hour or so, you aren't drinking enough!!!

Take a break mid-day. Go back to your resort and swim. Or just lie down with your feet up. Go to a restuarant and have a nice light meal and cool down in the a/c. Shop, just not 'till you drop!!

And for heaven's sake...wear a hat!!!

I was at MK yesterday. I thought I was melting into my shoes. It was really beastly and very crowded.

Was at MK Monday and EPCOT Tuesday and it was definately hot and crowded. I was constantly sipping on water. Except for a sunburned nose I am fine but I did drink a lot!

I agree! I went to Epcot on Wednesday and it was very, very hot. I soon developed a migraine and I was alone with my 2 year old daughter. I was so scared I was going to pass out, so I went to First Aid and got some advil and sat down for a while. The nurse asked if I had been drinking enough water. By the time we finally made it to the car my dd was asleep, so I turned on the air and laid back my seat...I think I sat there for about 25 minutes before I could even think about driving home.

Isn't this the worse! Migraines are bad enough but being alone with your children when you get one is the worse. As a fellow suffer, have you tried Imitrex? I use the spray (don't leave home without it - EVER) and I use it as soon as I feel the first sign. The migraine goes away very quickly :maleficen and never get a chance to get worse. I can't take the pills because they would not stay down. I LOVE modern medicine :love1: . No more missed days!

Feeling better today after lots of water, rest and better eating. Looking back, I should have planned better. Didn't occur to me til I returned that I had been on diuretics for past few weeks for ear problems, so I am sure I was more prone to dehydration. Thought I was going to pass out a few different times and water is hard to get quickly at parks with the long lines during summer.
:earboy2:
I should have done better planning, keeping constant water supply with me and high protein snacks. Hope I can help prevent this from happening to someone else. The rest of my family fared much better than I did. Still love Disney, people were so nice and they were all dealing with the same heat as me.

Just back on Wednesday after 3 weeks. It was very hot and humid - much more so than on any previous trip. I can stick it very well and so can my dad usually (like me he is very swarthy skinned and had just returned from 2 weeks in Spain so looked like an Arab!) but he really struggled with the high humidity. He actully took a bad cold which he blames on being dripping with sweat one minute and then frozen in air conditioning the next! (He did enjoy the attention that having a cold got him though! Men!!)

Actually, the air here has been pretty bad recently. There was a great deal of dust in the air. Not bad enough you could see it, but there have been warnings on the news about the health issues it could cause. I know that I have been having terrible sinus issues over the past couple of weeks. The heat, humidity, dust and pollen really play havoc with the sinus.

I hope your dad feels better soon.

Oh, Honey....I get migraines too and having one in sweltering heat, much less being responsible for a small child, would make my head explode like a bomb! I use Midrin, or the Imitrex shot if things get out of control. I am so sorry you went through this, and hope your doctor hooks you up in the future. There are so many good medicines now days...no one should have to suffer that kind of horrible pain.

Will it be any better in late August? I just made reservations for a trip 8/28 to 8/31? I know I'll still drink lots of water but will it be a bit more manageable or worse :earseek: ?

I don't see that it would be any worse but I wouldn't expect it to be much better.
We live a couple of hours northeast of Orlando. It usually doesn't start to get better here until around the end of September, if not even the middle of October.
I remember it was still hot, humid, and disgusting at Halloween last year...The make-up I put on my dracula and witch (DS & DD) melted like ice cream! It was quite gross.
