Just Back - Pixie Dust!

I returned today from five nights at WDW. My friend and I had a Garden View room reserved at the Beach Club from 2/24 to 3/1. As we were approaching the entrance with our bags, a young woman approached me and asked "Ms. ___?" I said "Yes." She said "Welcome to the Beach Club. I will take you to your room". I new instantly that we had been upgraded to the Club Level. WooHoo! It was fantastic. Our room was quite spacious and right next to the Lounge -- very convenient.

The staff was wonderful and we had a great time.

I was very appreciative of this upgrade. I don't know why it happened, but I'll take it any time.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I the Beach Club. Stayed 10 nights last summer and am looking forward to another 10 nights in August.

How cool! How was club level there? How much did you utilize the lounge? Did you like the selection? We're booked there this September!

We thought it was very nice. It can get crowded, but that is not a big deal. Our room was right next to the Lounge, so we had very easy access. We thought the selections were good and went in there every day, for sure. I think I read here on the DIS that it is going to be refurbished beginning this summer and will move temporarily to the Presidential Suite. I know someone will correct me if I am wrong about that.

I am not sure I would pay for Club Level, but it was nice as a free upgrade.

This is something I also do not understand..mysterious.

we were greeted by name by a CM at the front door at WL as well, but we were the only ones exiting the ME bus there, so it was not difficult to look up our names in the system

but what if 20 people leave the bus?!

This happened to us last year at BWI - we were greeted by name as we exited the bus and were walking towards the entrance to the resort, and were escorted to the Concierge Level check - in.

I have no idea how they knew who we were or why we got upgraded from a discounted standard view room to Concierge Level, but we really loved the upgrade!!

I had just read on facebook that you just got back from a trip! We're going in less than 2 weeks (not staying on property though). Just cannot wait to get away from the cold and snow!

Thanks, Amy. We had a nice time. It was so great to get away from this horrible winter for a little while. Our stay at the Beach Club was fantastic.

I am so glad you had a great time! I love that area the best! I kept checking on renting a DVC villa at the Boardwalk from an owner, but we're paying a lot less at Marriott's Sabal Palms, so my husband feels that cost needs to be kept at a minimum (I do agree but love the Beach Club and Boardwalk area!).

Magic bands. They know who everyone is, all the time now. Not that it's a problem!

My Magic Band had not been used yet, so that couldn't have been it. I thought it might be the Guard in the booth. He took my photo I'd when I told him we were checking in. I thought maybe he notified the people at the door that we were on our way. Otherwise, I really don't know how they do it.
