Although Epcot didn't seem crowded, the other 3 parks seemed very crowded and HOT! Took the Illuminations Cruise one night-a definite "must-do" for anyone who is lucky enough to get reservations. We spent more time than usual hanging out at our hotel (OKW), the heat just sapped the energy. I noticed that TSI was open even though it was supposed to be closed for renovations. And I saw lots more bunnies than usual. Happy to answer any ??

Did you do any of these? Were they manageable or crowded too?

We didn't do any of either. However, we were in MK when it was open til 10:00 one night. I was surprised at how crowded it stayed right up until the end. I'm afraid now that our kids are grown and gone, our early morning trips to be first on Dumbo are over.

Did you enjoy OKW, we're going there in July. We're staying in Studio and people have said they are not the greatest. My brother didn't want to "spring" for a two bedroom, so the studio was my only choice. I've also got afternoon breaks there planned, but being their first time, I have to remember to not be so compulsive about seeing everything and enjoy OKW also.

Yes, I would also like your opinion on OKW. We are staying there soon in a one bedroom with two teen age girls. Did you use a pull out sofa? I'm concerned that it might not be comfortable for the girls. What about resort transportation? Do they have a way for you to get around other than Disney buses? Were you near a bus stop? What about a pool? Did you need to bring your own laundry soap or did mousekeeping leave a daily supply? Did they clean daily? OK, enough questions for now.

Thanks,

Hi Simba's Mom!

Just back myself, and I also found the parks to be VERY CROWDED!

I cannot imagine that anyone who has stayed in a regular hotel room will be disappointed in an OKW studio.

You will have a microwave and mini fridge which saves you tons of money. The bathroom is huge. It is a quiet resort, no kids running up and down the halls, etc. If by saying the studios are not the greatest, they may be comparing to the extremely large one and two bedrooms. I cannot tell you how many trips I have made to WDW, 6 just last year, and I have stayed in every hotel but AKL, and I would much prefer an OKW studio to any Disney hotel room on property, with the exception of suites, of course.

Regarding the one bedroom. We prefer to take an aerobed than use the sleeper sofa, only because of convenience. The aerobed inflates and deflates very quickly each day and is very, very comfortable. I know they are replacing the sleeper sofas at DVC, and the new ones supposedly are very comfortable.

You take the busses to all the Parks from OKW. You can take a boat ride to DTD, which is a wonderfully pleasant ride.

There are 3 or 4 pools at OKW. Are you renting points or paying cash for your reservation. If renting, no daily mousekeeping, but I promise you do not miss it. You very quickly learn to love not having someone coming into your room. If you are paying cash, you would have daily cleaning. Same deal with supplies, renting, bring more, paying cash, you would receive from mousekeeping.

We LOVE OKW! I prefer the 1 BR units to the Studios, but the resort is lovely. They have several pools, but the main one will be closed this fall for about 3 months as they are adding a slide etc. to it. The busses are VERY convenient and come by frequently - about every 15-20 min. The boat shuttle to DTD is just the BEST! As far as laundry soap, they provide an initial packet. You are able to buy additional ones if you want from Conch Flats, the store in the main building.

In looking at the map, it looks like bus stops can be quite a ways away from some buildings. Is it really that spread out? Can you rent golf carts for just riding around the resort?? OK, probably not, but sounds like fun!!

When we were at OKW, the buses, for the most part, came quite often. One day, though, I ended up waiting 40 minutes for a bus to MGM. Boy was I steamed! During that time, at least 2 buses to each of the other parks came by, and 4 buses for Epcot came by in that 40 minutes. We stayed in a 1 BR for 5 nites, and a studio for 1. Our 1 BR was very close to a bus stop, but our studio was very far. Unfortunately, we did the 1 BR first, so the studio, after the 1 BR, didn't seem that great. However, a few years ago, having only stayed in hotel rooms, the studio was wonderful. I don't remember seeing laundry soap for sale, but we got a second "serving" on trash and towel day. Sorry, we didn't use the pull-out sofa, but I'd like to hear about their comfort myself. Using the pull-out sofa at BWV for the first time in January.

I'll let you know how the girls do on the pull out sofa. We are flying do I dont think we will bring along an aero bed, so I hope they are comfortable. Someone also mentioned requesting an eggcrate to place on top of the mattress.
