Just returned from a 4 day trip to OKW. Had this Thurs-Sun. trip on the books for the Food and Wine Fest. since May. Took along 2 other couples, and stayed in 3 studios at our home resort of OKW. Our friends loved it. I, unfortunately, was hospitalized prior to the trip and did not know if I was even going to be able to go. My DH called OKW on Wed. night and explained the situation and asked if we could be placed near the HH. I had no idea how this worked. I had discharge papers from the hospital. All the CM said was we were on the 1st floor. Okay , thanks.

I made the trip down and once we got down there and checked in, 2 of the 3studios were ready in building 38. Check in lines were not long. It was about 3:30 or so. Our room was not ready. We had a late lunch at Olivia's, which was wonderful, although service was very slow. One of the couples we were travelling with mentioned that several times. Oh well, you are on vacation. Your room is ready so go on ahead and hit the parks. We ate and everyone enjoyed lunch. While we were eating, one of the CM from the front desk who was dealing with my DH at check in came over and said that there was a problem with our room. There was a water leak so we were being upgraded to a 1BR in building 39 and the room was ready. Okay, thanks. By this time, I was bordering on exhaustion and needed to lay down so this was great news to me! My DH loved it because we had a bigger room and no kids with us.

The room was in okay shape. I did notice that the kitchen counter was burned pretty bad and that the couches in the family area did not have the extra throw pillows. Other than that, all looked okay. My one friend said there were no coffee filters in the studio, although their was coffee. Our friends loved the stay, and were thinking of buying in, but decided against it.

Love bugs were not an issue for us. Crowds at Epcot, where we spent most of our time, were not an issue either. Dinner on Thursday night was appetizers at Raglan Road while listening to the band. My friend and I ended up leaving while our husbands closed the bar and had a blast. After a week in the hospital, I nneeded to leave and my DH needed to blow off some steam. Friday night we had dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. I don't eat beef, but there was other choices for me. Everyone loved it here, and several of them saved room for dessert! Saturday night we just grazed around the festival, and then ended up in the downtown disney marketplace doing some shopping, and eating some ice cream. We had breakfast at Olivia's on Sunday morning. No ADR, just walked in about 8:40 or so. Our waitress said it was a new menu. I don't remember what everyone had, but we all liked what we ate.

It was a quick trip and even though I was under the weather, and still am, I am glad I went. Our next trip isn't until July-another quick 4 day trip, but this one is around our first family reunion!! Should be fun!!

Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself even though you were still mending. I have had a rather big medical issue right now too, and I'm hoping it is resolved by the time we go down mid November. Somehow, being in WDW always makes me feel better, so I'm sure it wont be an issue.

Thanks for the candid report. We will be traveling to OKW for our first trip "home" soon. We are so excited

I'm really glad that they were able to upgrade you to a 1 BR with your recent hospitalization. You probably could really use the extra space to relax. Hope you're on the mend.

Yep, you need to bring your own coffee filters if you bring your own coffee.
