We just returned from a wonderful trip of 7 nights in a handicap accessible GV (#6323)at OKW. This was my first stay in a GV and I was very impressed, as was everyone else in my group. My cousin who uses a wheelchair since childhood was able to use the shower and get around great in the unit. She slept on the pullout sofa as the king bed was high enough that it would have been difficult for her to transfer into.
This was a "girls only" trip consisting of my mom (79), me, my 3 sisters and 5 cousins (age range of 48 - 66). We have never all taken a trip together before, and thought we should do it while we were all still healthy and physically able. It was great to have the GV space to spread out in and to have 4 bathrooms for 10 women.
Several of the gals had never been to Disney, so it was fun to share their excitement of all the attractions. My "wheelchair" cousin was very impressed with the transportation and the accessibility of many of the attractions.
We used Wegoshop for grocery delivery and were very happy with their service. We did all breakfasts in our room, a lunch and several dinners so had quite a large order.
We rented a wheelchair for Mom from Randys and they were very prompt with delivery and pickup.
We used magic express and had no trouble with the wheelchair lifts.
Called maintenance about the dishwasher not working, and they came promptly and fixed it.
It felt good to be able to share my DVC with family members and I know they all really appreciated it.
