We just returned from house of mouse! We stayed at Coranado Springs (a '9')on the MYW Dining plan. We booked this before Disney changed the restaurants which made us a little disappointed but decided to keep the plan anyway. As it turned out, we really liked it ... except we ate way toooooo much! Also, upon checking in the manager informed us that CSR's restaurants were participating; which turned out to be very convenient. We had only two problems, one was Mama Melrose' which billed it to the room and two snacks but the CM at CSR took care of it w/o problem. It seemed like all the CM's were aware of the "plan". Here's our dining list:

Day 1. Sit down at Shutters. Atmosphere was a 5 but food was a 9. They had a fettucine dish that was out of this world. I would definitely return here.

Day 2. Counter meal at Rays Starlight Cafe. Atmosphere and food both an 8 (as counter service goes). Dinner at Cindarella's Royal Table. We got a window seat and watched Wishes. Atmosphere 10 and food an 8. Definetly will do again.

Day 3. Breakfast at Pepper Market. I would rate atmosphere a 7 and food an 8 (again for c/s). We had a late lunch at Mikoshi (sp?) in Japan (off plan). Food and atmosphere an 8.

Day 4. Rays Starlight Cafe again for lunch (definetly the best c/s meal). Hoop dee doo revue. The show was 'okay', Sangria was fine, food was almost as good as Ponderosa. Atmosphere 6 food 3. Never again!

Day 5. Lunch at Pepper Market. Dinner at Maya Grill. Atmosphere 7 and food 8.

Day 6. Breakfast again at Pepper Market. Dinner at Mama Melrose. Atmosphere 5, food 5.

Day 7. Lunch at Flame Tree BBQ. Atmosphere (outside) 5 and food 7. Dinner at O'hanna's. Atmosphere 9 (we got a window seat for wishes so that increased atmosphere!). Food was a 9. They had the biggest shrimp I've ever had at a restaurant. Definitely a return. Although I don't know why they charge relatives since we are all "cousins".

Thanks for the reviews. What did you order for dessert at some of the counter service places? What about for snacks?
We are thinking of going to some of the same places on our next trip- Ohana, Cinderella's Royal Table.
Did you have any children with you on the plan? We have an 8-year-old and a 2-year-old and I really wish the 2-year-old could be on the plan since he can EAT!!!!

Thanks!!

Just wanted to chime in, and say that we enjoyed Shutters on our trip last year. One of the best meals of the week.

Thanks for the info. It looks like you did do counter service breakfast's as part of the meal plan...did this work well for you? We have considered the MYW dining but we are really breakfast eaters so I wondered how it worked out for you. Thanks again.

Texas - We had a sugar-free brownie and carrot cake at Rays. Strawberry shortcake and a Churro at Pepper Market and Apple-spice cake at ABC Commissary. That reminds me, I forgot to mention we ate at ABC - probably because it was the least memorable meal! The desserts were basically just pre-packaged stuff which we took back to our room for a late snack. The exception is the S.S cake. Pepper Market has a large selection of fresh made desserts. This was a 2nd honeymoon so our DD16 didn't join us, so no kids. As far as snacks, we actually didn't use them all. We had a couple of sodas and some ice cream bars. The toll house cookie ice cream sandwiches were the best deal. They were large and we usually shared one. Since we got large sodas at lunch we didn't need anymore later.

Madam - Shutters was an afterthought - we were looking for a place that had 'no meat' selections for Ash Wednesday. It turned out to be a real surprise.

Tiger - As far as breakfast is concerned, I don't know about the parks but the Pepper Market had large portion, very good breakfast selections. If you can get to CSR the breakfast is well worth it. Overall for counter service Pepper Market is the best deal. When we ate lunch there our bill would have been $40 if not for the MYW dining.

Thanks for the info. We were wondering if you had PS for your diners and character dining? or did you wing it? Were on the MYW Dining plan for the first week in April and we only have a few PS booked.

Thanks. :sunny:

We had PS's for every dinner except the night we went to the Maya Grill. We actually planned to go to Concourse Steakhouse that night. We didn't do a PS there and just winged it. When we got to CSH they were no longer taking walk-ins. We ended up not eating until 10:00 PM and my DW was not a happy camper! So after that, we got PS's for the other nights as well. So I would suggest PS's.
