I've just returned from a week stay 7/2 through 7/9. My DD10 was charged as an adult at CRT, Boma, and CM but not at CP. She was given the option of ordering from the children's menu at Kona Cafe, Sci-Fi and Marrekesh and would have received a larger portion of children's food at an 'adult' price. Credits can still be pooled; at Kona and at Sci Fi I used DD10's adult meal and split it between DD10 and DS6 and used the two extra credits to eat at Citricos with DH while kids were at Mouseketeer's club. IMO, I don't think I'd pay for the meal plan again. We stayed 7 nights but only had 6 full days in the parks. We all have healthy appetites and I thought it would be a great deal and it was, for the food we purchased. However, we could have gotten by on less food. I didn't count on the heat making us lose our appetites and the large portions of food we were given. That being said, if we has stayed 7 nights and had 8 days in the park, it would have been a better deal as we could have better spread out the credits.
Questions?

Which meal did you do at CRT, and how many credits was it? I saw on another thread that someone said it was TWO TS credits per person, which sounded wrong to me. Unfortunately my Acrobat Reader doesn't work so I can't access the restaurant listing.

We want to do CRT lunch if we can get an ADR, but for two credits we'll pay out of pocket!

We did lunch and it was only one credit. Since we had to put down a $30 deposit at the time of the reservation, we used that plus a little extra to pay for the children ($24 for DD10 and $12 for DS6) and used two credits for DH and myself.

:earsgirl: I am planning on doing Marrekesh with hubbie and :confused3 our 2 yr old while DD8 is in Neverland club. Could you tell me how you liked Marrekesh? and how did DD10 like the mouse keeper club? First time at both for all of us :flower:

We will also be doing CRT for lunch. What was your impresion of the castle? Everyone says it is great, is it? What did you eat? Your kids?

What about the food at Boma? (we are also going there)

In fact, most of the places you ate at, we are planning on doing too :Pinkbounc

Question about Kona.

You mention that you 10 year od DD was able to order her entree from the kids menu if she like, but was she able to order an adult appetizer and dessert?

I have a 10 year old DS who also wont eat off the adult menu but might enjoy an adult appetizer and dessert.

Thanks

Missy

Thanks for reporting back. I'm glad to hear your "adult" had the option of still ordering off the children's menu.

The dining plan sounds like WAY to much food for my group.
:grouphug:

Especially in the summer!!! :sunny:

If there is one thing besides money I hate wasting, it's food. :mickeybar

On our las May trip, we were barely getting down one full meal a day.

I think we ate our weight in snacks though!!!

My DD4 was able to order an adult appetizer while on the plan because most of the places don't have childrens appetizzers.

I really didn't like Marrekesh. I ordered the lamb couscous and I thought it was bland. My DD10 ordered the roasted lamb shank which was much better. My DH ordered the fish (salmon?) and he really liked it. We enjoyed the ambiance and the belly dancing but that was it. The desserts really weren't that great, either. As for entrees, the beef bastilla was much tastier than the chicken, IMO.

The ambiance at CRT was great - the entree had two seafood items (I don't like seafood) and the character interaction was very fast. However, my entree was pretty good (pork with mustard grits), my DH enjoyed his seafood, my DD10 enjoyed the Major Domo pie and my DS6 stills talks about the fact that Aurora (the prettiest one in his opinion) kissed him on the cheek! We took a picture of the lipstick mark on his cheek. This alone was worth every penny for the meal!

I really liked Boma's. We were all tired and reluctant to go to dinner but I had reservations so we went. The food was varied and excellent.

Missy,

I don't think I can answer your question since my DD10 and DS6 shared an adult meal. However, I did get an appetizer and dessert for this meal. So we were 4 people and ordered 3 entrees, 3 dinners and 3 desserts, all from the adult menu. My children split the prime rib, which came with mashed potatoes, and this was quite 'child friendly'.

It was a lot of food but I don't feel we wasted any. If we couldn't finish an entree we boxed it and brought it back to the hotel. We rented a fridge for that purpose. We would eat it as a late night snack or even for breakfast. I did gain about 5 pounds, even with all of the walking! I will say I overate simply because I hate waste... The buffets may not make the most economical sense as far as maximizing the meal plan but they were best in terms of money spent and not feeling obligated to eat a certain amount of food to 'get you money's worth'.

I added up all of my receipts and they came to about $1,050 for food and we paid $805 for the meal plan. The only out of pocket I paid was the extra for CRT (about $10), some extra tip here and there, and wine.
