We are just back and this time DH and my dad decided we had to have sit down meals every night. Needless to say we tried a lot of different places. So here are my reviews
Day 1 Arrival- Beaches and Cream
We had hamburgers and shakes for lunch. My burger was a bit dry because I forgot to say medium, so I automatically got Medium Well. The boys were smart and specified medium and their's were better. Hubby got onions and cheese. I stole a bite and it was quite good. The shakes were great. The server even split them into separate cups for the kids. The Mint Oreo shake was awesome. We left satisfied. The kids loved the arcade right next door.
Dinner - Chef Mickey's
Let me say that Chef Mickey's is a tradition for us. So I am biased. My dad said that it was his favorite as well. Our server was incredible. He was very attentive. We never had an empty glass. We had a 5:30 PM PS . The food was excellent. Everything was very fresh. I has the roast beef, cod, peeled shrimp, potato salad, beef barley soup and the rasberry cheese cake. I love the variety. All of my kids eat well there. It was a fun yet relaxing evening.
Day 2 - Dinner - Brown Derby
We had never been there and had heard mixed reviews. Hubby and I had the Salmon and and my parents had the rotisserie chicken. The chicken looked good, they enjoyed it. But, the salmon was heavenly. It was not a huge portion (the chicken was a huge portion, by the way), but it was plenty for us. The polenta was soooo good and I loved the sauce it was presented on. I have to say this was DH and mine favorite of the week.
Day 3 - Dinner - Trail's End Buffet.
I can't find anything that is worthy of mention. My dad liked it, but I thought the food was bland. The fish was mushy. The chicken was OK. Not a big variety of desserts either. Chuck wagon food.....
Day 4 - Dinner Beaches and Cream Take out by the pool.
Yum, but it took F o r e v e r to get our food. We had the sundae and bananna split for dessert. We could not finish them.
Day 5 - Dinner
We didn't sit down. We went to the Chinese carry out place. Yuck.. yuck...yuck For dessert we had crepes and funnel cakes. Now they were great....
Day 6 - Dinner - Chef's de France
I had the complete dinner special. It included onion soup which could have been a meal in of itself, rotisserie chicken, (which was alright) and creme brulee. I had never had creme brulee and I have to say that it was quite good. I don't know why I expected it hot. But I did eat the whole thing. I gave away most of my chicken to the kids who did not fill up on the chicken plank and pasta. DH had the fish. He said it was very good and of the same quality as the fish we had at the Brown Derby. My mom had the lasagna and enjoyed it very much. I don't know why, but the food did not seem french enough, but it was well presented and decent. I wasn't impressed with the service. The waiter brought us old coffee. The replacement coffee was much better. He also double charged us on a few items. Not the best meal but ok
Day 7 - Dinner - Cape May Clam Bake.
Now I was expecting nothing but seafood, but I was impressed with the variety. I had the prime rib and it was very good. The vegetables and potatos were good as well. The pasta dish looked old so I didn't try it. I have to say they had a wonderful variety of desserts. There was something for everyone. This was my Number #2 favorite
Day 8 O'hana's Dinner
Well I thought the kids would enjoy this dinner, but they did not get into the activities at all. I enjoyed the food but skewed meats are not my favorite. I liked the steak and shimp well enough and the pork was ok. The salad had a sweet vinigrette that was very tasty. I liked the fruit puree and peanut sauce. The veggies were too crisp for me. I don't know, I probably won't go back. It was just OK
Feel free to ask questions...Have a great day.
