First time traveling in August to the world. We spent 8 days at the Polynesian and had a fabulous time.
WEATHER: I went knowing it was going to be hot and very humid but I did not find it to be as bad as what I had anticipated. We did take breaks everyday except for the one day that we spent at Universal. I drank water pretty much every chance I had. At times, I did sweat quite a bit but that really wasn't an issue for me. Although it wouldn't be my first choice I would go back in August again if I had to.

CROWDS: Busy but manageable by most accounts. Utilized our fast passes, did rope drop, and rode at night and there was not much we missed out on. Also I found the crowds to be much more laid back compared to when I was there in April. Didn't witness any fighting and people seemed to be much less cranky...maybe it was just a fluke but I was surprised by that considering the heat.

Pros:

Ate lunch at Be our Guest....pleasantly surprised. I had the French Dip with green beans rather than fries and it was delicious! The cupcakes were very small for the price and they were good but I would skip dessert if I ever eat there for lunch again.

Pandora: Had fast passes for FOP and it was definitely amazing. Pandora gets the thumbs up from me for the night atmosphere though. I loved it and found it to be a relaxing place to sit.

Room: Had a room on the 3rd floor of the Rarotonga building on the side closest to the Ceremonial House....1 or 2 min walk and a quick walk to either pool. We got a room facing the monorail and at first I was skeptical that it would be very loud. It wasn't anything that bothered me. We could hear the "Please stand clear of the doors" announcements on the monorail when we were sitting on the balcony but not in the room.

Star Wars fireworks at HS....loved it and I can't wait for Galaxy's Edge to open up.

Got to celebrate my birthday and got lots of Birthday wishes and sang to at Trail's End after dinner. Lots of fun and a great memory for me!!

Dole whip Swirl at the hotel...loved this, so yummy and it was nice to not have to stand in long lines in the park to get it.

Only two cons:

I wish the parks were open later at night because I love being there at night.

Capt Cooks at the Polynesian is small by comparison to food areas in other hotels, especially mods. Food was good there (especially the pulled pork nachos) but the menu was limited and my kids didn't want to eat there anymore after a while. Also you have to order and pay for your food at the same place unlike in other resorts we have stayed at so buying grab n go items was sometimes time consuming.

We had a great and very busy trip and I am already looking forward to going again!!

That's a nice review. Thanks for posting.

Sounds like you had a fun trip :) I didn't find the heat to be that bad when I was there early in the summer, but I always heard that August was a totally different beast. Glad to hear it didn't bother you that much!
