We were at WDW from 5/31 - 6/7 and I have to say that the crowds were WAY less than last year during the same week. We had no problems at all with crowds. The most crowded day/park we saw was either Friday at MGM for a Star Wars weekend day, or Wednesday evening at MK (until the big storm hit). The good news for those two days were that the storm ran about half the crowd out before the skies cleared about 8pm for Spectro/FITS, and the FP return times for RNR and ToT were shorter than the standby times!!

If you have any questions about our experiences last week, just ask.

Was it Gay Week? I've always heard that the first week of June is busy because of Gay Week. Did you just avoid the parks that were the selected park for the day, or did they change the week this year?

...it was 'gay week'. We have made three trips over the past 5 years, and all have included some or all of the 'gay week' time frame. The first week just works really well for our schedule, so we go. The only park we avoided was MK on Saturday, June 7th. This wasn't a problem, as our flight left that afternoon. It does not noticably increase the crowds at other parks IMO. It might affect PI, but we don't get down there at night with the kids anyway. Sure, you see some people wearing red or rainbow attire...so what. 99% of the clothing/behavior is not inappropriate for a theme park or family destination. I saw more rude and poor behavior from "normal" teens and adults...but of course there are more of them, too. My bottom line is that as long as you avoid MK on THE 'gay day' you don't have any problems.

I wasn't trying to disparage the idea of Gay Week. I really couldn't care less about it other than from a crowd standpoint. I had heard that the week was busier than the weeks just before or after that week, so I was wondering if the drop-off in attendance is really pronounced this year. If Gay Week is usually busier and you say it was light this year, I wonder if that is bad news for Disney. That's all.

This is my first post, so please bear with me.. :)

I was there Sat, June 7th for "Gay Day". I went by myslef with my two kids (Dh was working) and it wasnt too bad. My best friend is gay so I had no problems. It was really nice in the morning. We got there around 9am and was basically not crowded. In fact, Sat was the first time we got to take alot of pictures with all the characters and a first time meeting with "THE CINDEREALLA" herself. My five year old DD was loving life. We got a great seat for the show in front of the castle and even Peter Pans flight was only a 30 minute wait. (It has always been at least 45 minutes every time I have gone)

It did start to get crowded right before the parade and when it was over, it was wall to wall people. That is when we hit the road. Around 4pm. All in all, I will go again and I wasnt discouraged by the crowds. Now, I do have an annual pass, so leaving early doesnt hurt me. (I live 15 minutes away)
