Just Back...My BEST WDW Meal Ever / Flying Fish

What others did you like better? We are going to the FF this month for the first time.

MAKmom: It's been about 4 years since I went to the FF. For us, the food was okay (although my steak didn't have much flavor) but our service was not good. I think my biggest beef was that it didn't have much atmosphere. I like my Disney restaurants to have that special ambiance, know what I mean? It just didn't have that. Add the sucky service and the just-okay food, we gave it a thumbs-down. But it could have just been a one-time thing, seeing as so many others really seem to like Flying Fish. I'll have to try it again some time.

Restaurants I like better: Le Cellier, 50's Prime Time, Liberty Tree Tavern, Kona Cafe, O'hana's, etc. I have really enjoyed nearly every restaurant I have tried at WDW. Only two I didn't care for were FF and Beaches & Cream.

Try the Celebration Town Tavern on a Friday night and there's karoke as well!

Saturday night we ate at Tchoup Chop at USO. It was an excellent meal. We started with an Asian Ceasar Salad with shrimp which everyone thought very good and seared scallops over plantains which were deemed EXCELLENT.

The scallops at Tchoup Chop are some of the best I've ever had. Glad you had a great time at both these restaurants. We will be going to both on our trip in 2 weeks.

I'm puzzled, though, by a comment about a side at FF. Risotto is made with rice; how can it be whole wheat?

I was thinking the same thing!!! Maybe they just called it "risotto" and it was really a whole wheat orzo (pasta). I've seen restaurants do that before (it drives me crazy, but that's just me!)
