Dh, ds and I are just home from a week at the VWL. We did MNSSHP on 10/31 (fun but crowded; we felt they were much stingier with candy this year than last) and park-hopped the other days. We did a lot of fun things, and Philharmagic and Wishes are not to be missed!
The first few days of our trip (10/29 - 10/31) were fine -- busy, but not overly crowded. However, on 11/01, WDW became an absolute zoo. The infamous "Jersey Week" had begun, earlier than we'd anticipated.
From that point on, the crowds were the worst we'd ever experienced. There were huge lines at the WL boat dock every morning. All the rides had long waits. Just moving around in the parks was difficult. And everyone we talked to (or overheard) said they were "down from New Jersey". I mean *everyone*.
I actually had an at-length conversation with a woman from New Jersey while we waited on the WL boat dock one morning. I said, "What is it that makes all of you come here at one time????" She said that they were vacationing for 2 weeks and her kids were only missing 4 days of school. I said, "Yes, but why do you all come HERE????" She said," Because it's the best!"
I couldn't argue with that of course, but it definitely made our trip the least enjoyable one we've taken. Never again will we visit WDW during Jersey Week -- it really *is* as crowded as they say it is.
