Just back from HRH. Here are a few observations: HRH was very nice overall. Got a double queen deluxe room for $160/nht (Entertainment Rate). Hallways are long and in need of repair with very dirty carpet for this type of hotel. Room was in much better shape with very comfortable beds and very roomy. Pullout queen sofa was a little saggy for sleeping on, but the kids (11,8,6) didn't mind . Pool area was rated awesome for everyone in our family, beach area was very nice and the kids loved the slide (drinks are a little pricey from the Beach Club). Music loudness didn't really bother us on the 5th floor pool view, but I can see were it might if you were on a lower floor. Overall we really liked the music playing througout the hotel. Staff was very friendly and the only complaint was they double charged me at the Beach Club bar one day, which was quickly fixed at checkout. One complaint is that it's harder to find a good variety of food at the Universal Hotels at a reasonable price. Disney is much better at this with a good variety at there food courts.

FOTL access using the room key can't be beat. Most rides are walk on access (we walked on Hulk when the posted wait time was 60 minutes). The most we waited was 10 minutes for Dudley Do-Rights Ripsall Falls. In three days at the parks we did every single ride and attraction from 2-5 times.
This was awesome since we're near Cedar Pointe Theme Park where 60 minute wait times are the norm.

FOOD: all comments take into account the food quality and price.
Hard Rock Cafe - Average food at best and very noisy.
Sunset Grille - Pretty good overall, a little pricey !
Palm Restaurant - Excellent and not too bad for price considering the quality of food.
Mythos - Excellent and good price.
Ohana's at Poly (Disney) - Excellent, we love this place, but pricey.
Benihana - Average food.
CBR food court (Disney) - Pretty good at a good price with very good selection.

Other: RPR was very pretty, didn't get a chance to eat at Tchoup Chop though. Weather was hot and sticky but we loved it since we've been cold in Michigan all spring. We rate the rides in the following order:
1). Hulk, Spiderman (Tie)
2). Front seat of Fire (Dueling Dragons)
3). MIB
4). ET
5). River Adventure
6). Twister
7). Terminator
8). Beetle Juice Review
9). Wild West Stunt Show
10). Cat in the Hat

:smooth:

We have this room booked for November...and are hoping that the Royal Pacific entertainment rate comes thru..

did you think the deluxe room was worth it?

so then you didn't care for the restaurants at the Hard Rock! any other details would be great

thanks!

ellie&mattys mom - We went with the deluxe room becuase we have 5 people and a roll away bed is $25.00 per night, so with the Entertainment rate it would have been $150/night regular room or $160/night deluxe. The space in the deluxe room is probably worth the extra $10.

The restaurants at the Hard Rock are the Sunset Grill and The Palm. The Palm is Great and the Sunset Grill is OK. There's also a small coffee shop for coffee, ice cream, donuts and yogurt and stuff for a small breakfast.

I was there on business so my company paid my hotel bill, but if I had to pay for it I would stay at the RPH with the entertainment rate and get the roll away bed. One thing I noticed about the entertainment rate at the RPH is that it's usually not available when there's some type of convention going on there. If you only need a room for 4 I would go with the HRH entertainment rate of $125/night.

Did you get the milk and cookies? Did you do the A report card for you kids? What time was the pool opened until? What activities at the hotel did you notice that they had? Sorry for all the questions. Oh, did they charge you for parking?

No Milk and Cookies or Report Card. The pool was open until 10pm every night of the week.

They play a movie every friday night out by the pool area, last week it was Scobbie Doo. Thursday night they had some type of DJ out by the pool from 8-10pm, they really turned the music up loud, kind of annoying if your trying to sleep ! They also had some other pool games going, but it looked like mostly older (teenage) kids playing.

Parking charge was $6/day, this also allows you to park at the RPH, but not at PBH since they have a separate self park sysyem.

Thanks for sharing - Wonderful reviews!!!!
